We are family (Love and trauma) 2
'Ma get up,'someone tapped me, waking me up from my sleep. 'When did I fall asleep ?', I wondered as I tried to get on my feet. 'Ma, looks like you slept so deeply that you can't recognise your aunt',my aunt said with her hands on my shoulder. 'Sorry aunt, I just didn't expect you to be here', I said, tapping my siblings to wake up. How did you know we are here? 'One of your neighbour called me to tell me', she answered. I am here to take you home. 'Oh! I guess it's Mr. James', I said in surprise. Ehn aunt which home? Mama has sacked us, and your husband has made it clear he doesn't want us loitering around his house. 'Ma,to your sister's house',she whispered. The one your dad gifted her, remember ? I have the keys so let's go. 'But what about big sis?' I asked. What if she wakes up?
'Will your sister be happy to see you devastated like this?' she questioned me. Take your bags and let's go, just go and freshen up and don't worry about school I will call your principal. My siblings and I followed her quietly. I was crying within me, this was my aunt, my mom threw out years ago when she refused to marry the man the family wanted her to marry. I remember that day clearly and I could bet that it still hunted me. We were all watching tv that night, when mom called aunt into her room, It didn't last for a minute when they started quarrelling on top of their voices. Then we heard aunt cry, we rushed to the room only to find her on the floor with her hand on cheek crying, mum had slapped her, we try to help her but she sent us out, begging us to stay out of it. The next moment, mum was dragging her out of the house together with her belongings, we knelt begging her that it was raining and that she shouldn't send Aunt away yet still she sacked her. Daddy went on a week trip outside the country that day so we couldn't call him. That day was one of the saddest days of my life. I looked at her through the window and she looked miserable, she sat on the wet floor feeling cold, with the rain beating her . Here she was helping us out like nothing really happened.

Ha!thank you God, I sighed a sigh of relief as I sat on the sofa. I looked around and the house was still looking new. Dad gifted big sis with this house on her Eighteenth birthday, that was two years ago. 'Thanks aunt,'I said. Aunt why are you doing this? She smiled at me and said, 'we are family remember?' ' Yes, thanks again aunt' I replied. Aunt who helped you the night mom threw you out?
'Your dad, she surprisingly replied. 'Dad!', I exclaimed.
