Krishna & me - part - XV
Me - Krishna, is wrong to break promises?

Krishna (God ) - It depends on the reason, why you break your promise, my dear.

Me - But won't I lose the trust of the person whom I promised to.

Krishna (God) -  when you promise, you promise with an intension to do something good for the society right?

Me - yes Krishna.

Krishna (God) - But do you know what is going to happen in future accurately.

Me - No Krishna, I don't know

Krishna - So you promise with assumption or expection that promise will do good for everyone right?

Me - yes Krishna.

Krishna (God) - But what if things don't happen as per your expectations? What if your promise is the cause of harm to everyone.

Me - But what's the worth of my word if I can't keep it. A promise is given to someone, is an assurity that we will not break it no matter what happens.

Krishna (God) - (smiles) Let me explain this to you with an example.
Suppose you find injured tiger, you decide to take care of it. You take a oath/ promise that you won't let anyone harm it or get it caged. But after some time, the tiger starts attacking and harming everyone, what would you do? Won't you get the tiger caged?

Me - Umm.. I will get it caged.

Krishna (God) - And why is it so dear.

Me - Because it's harming others.

Krishna (God) - In the same way, a promise is only worthy until & unless it is doing good for society. A promise which is causing destruction or harming the society should broken then & there itself.
