WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR
Yemi is a little boy of 14 years and lives in Lagos with his wealthy parents and two sisters. He attends a private school and he's in the senior class.
One day in the morning Yemi had stomach pain in class. He called on his friends and classmates to help him call the school nurse or take him to the sick bay but instead, they were all laughing and using their phones to take pictures of how he was displaying pain.
Minutes later, Yemi started to vomit. His friends and classmates ran out of the class due to the odour of his vomits.

Abiodun is 17 years, a male and works as a cleaner in the school. He was moving the waste basket when he saw Yemi looking weak and lying on the floor helpless in his class. Abiodun moved closer to help Yemi but as he was about to enter the class some boys pushed him back. Abiodun struggle with them and forced himself into the class. Despite the vomit and bad odour Abiodun carried Yemi and rushed him to the school sick bay.

Yemi was given first aid treatment at the school sick bay and was later taken by his parents to their family hospital for proper medical treatment. Yemi was detained in the hospital for a week and he resumed back to school the second week.

As Yemi was walking into the classroom his classmates and friends rushed to welcome him but he ignored all of them. Yemi didn't talk to them but walked away from them to search for Abiodun who saved him the day he was helpless in pain.

Yemi had told his parents about how he called his friends and classmates who rejected him the day he was dying and how Abiodun their school cleaner whom he had never talked to before saved his life. Abiodun's parents put some money in an envelope with some gifts for him to give to Abiodun. When Yemi could not see Abiodun, he approached the school gate man to ask for Abiodun and there he was told Abiodun has been sacked by the school principal a week ago. Yemi became worried, he knew that was the same week he was on admission to the hospital.

The same day in the afternoon after school hours, the driver came to pick Yemi up as usual and as he was going along the main road, Yemi saw Abiodun at a junction. Yemi was surprised to see Abiodun hawking cold water along the road. He quickly told his driver to park by the road and came out of the car to approach him.

When Abiodun heard his name called from behind, he turned and was surprised to see Yemi. Abiodun wondered what Yemi came to do and it was then Yemi told him he had searched for him in school all through before a gateman told him he has been sacked. Abiodun explained to Yemi the school authority sacked him because of the help he rendered to Yemi the day he was helpless. Abiodun told Yemi, that his classmates he pushed away to help him were the ones that set him up by putting a phone and money in his bag and later reported to the school principal that he stole them.

Yemi felt pity for Abiodun and told him not to worry. He brought him to the car and there he gave the gifts and money to Abiodun. Abiodun became happy after seeing everything Yemi gave to him. Yemi also gave Abiodun his house address as he invited him for the weekend.

Since Yemi heard everything Abiodun told me, he dislikes his classmates. Yemi was also not pleased with the prosecution taken by the school authority because they didn't get the truth before taking action.

That weekend Abiodun met Yemi at his house as planned. Yemi introduced Abiodun to his parents and sisters. After being entertained Yemi's parents asked Abiodun about his parents and he told them they live in the village. "Why did you leave them in the village and come to work as a cleaner in the city instead of being in school?" Ask Yemi's father.

Abiodun explained his parents are poor and could not afford to sponsor his education. Abiodun told them he came to the city to hustle so he can make some money and go back to school. When Yemi's mother heard what Abiodun said, she interrupted "Does that mean you were a student?"
Abiodun answered he was in the senior class when he dropped out of secondary school.

Yemi's parents have compassion for Abiodun and they promised to assist him back to school up to the university level. They also gave Abiodun some amount of money and told him to come with his parents in two weeks.

Abiodun was over joy. He went down on his knees as he prostrated before them to show his appreciation and a few minutes he left.

Yemi's classmates were not pleased and started making enemies with him since Yemi decided not to interact with any of them again. Yemi no longer shares his things (e.g money, snacks, story books, etc) with any of them again. Even their class works and home works they used to copy from Yemi, he showed them no more.

Yemi was troubled by his classmates in various ways so all of them could fight him but Yemi never minds and always ignore them. On Thursday afternoon after they all returned from the library, a girl in Yemi's class named Nkoyo reported to their class teacher her money has been stolen. Their class teacher called on the whole students in the class and started searching their bags one after the other. It was a shock when the money was found inside Yemi's bag.

Yemi was short of words as he couldn't defend himself because he was sure it was a planned work of his classmates. He broke into tears and told the teacher he knew nothing about it.

The teacher took Yemi to the school principal office where she reported him. The principal gave him punishment for the rest of the day and also instructed him to report to school the next day with his parents.

There was jubilation by Yemi's classmates after they saw the punishment given to Yemi by the principal.

After closing from school that day, Nkoyo with three other friends were on their way home. They were discussing the clean set up was done against Yemi. Nkoyo told them she intentionally sat closer to Yemi in the library so her plan can be successful. She explained how she squeezed the money and threw it into Yemi's bag while they were in the library. They all laughed together and later departed to their various homes.

Yemi was sad when he got home. He explained the whole incident to his mother. Yemi's mother became unsatisfied with what Yemi's classmates did to his son. "You mean your classmates did all these to you? This show they are evils. They can poison or even kill". Yemi's mother agreed to meet the principal but promised Yemi she will tell his father to change his school before the worst will happen.

Abiodun and his parents came to Yemi's house. They were all happy to meet each other. Yemi's parents explained their plans to Abiodun's...
