A Goddess
Where to start? I guess let's just start from the beginning. It was a day like any other. I Carly Green only eighteen, was given the shock of my life. I found out that little old me was and is a goddess. Yes I know totally unbelievable, but true non the less. I too had many and I do mean many doubts. My first one, I in no way shape or form look like a goddess. My skin is blemished with acne, my nose too big, and my hair well my hair is a wavy curly untamed mess. My second doubt, I am not graceful, I trip over my own feet. My last and most serious doubt, um aren't God's and Goddesses fictional? like isn't that what we learned in school?
Speaking of school, it was my last and final day as a senior, I was super excited because I was going to finally move on to college with more intellectual people. People that can have conversations about anything, instead of worrying about who's popular. I was walking home, then it happened, I was enjoying my walk then out of no where I'm soaring the sky. yup you read that correctly, I was flying in the sky. I started to panic and tried to push myself back to the ground.It didn't matter how hard I tried I was only going up.
I found myself in front of this massive castle, like the ones on television but they didn't do this one any favors. It was all white with gold trim. There were gorgeous paintings on the wall, and endless hallways. I stared to walk towards this door, that had an image so strange I couldn't tell you what it was, but it was beautifully etched out. I open the door and was instantly face to leg with this huge beautiful man. He had ice blue eyes and a long grey beard. He was just smiling at me. Hi I said, and he just replied with a hi also. So confused and slightly amused I just stared at him. Ahmm I'm sorry please allow me to introduce myself. I am Zeus. You are Carly Green is that correct? Yes Carly said all wary. Well then you are my granddaughter. My daughter Athena is your mother. What!? Hold on there just a sec Carly started to stutter, I already have parents, I love my parents. Seriously this is a joke and I wish to go home. Ah my dear child this is no joke said Zeus. Eighteen years ago my daughter had you, she wanted to keep you safe so she looked for the best people she could find. She found your parents and judging by your response they did their job. So what do you want with me asked Carly. Well I think it's time you got to know the real you. The you that's full of untapped power.
Ha ha ha ha, me powers? me? Carly didn't know what else to do but laugh. Pacing back and forth she stopped and looked at Zeus. OK so say that I believe you why? Just why everything? Well it's actually about your mother. She needs your help. She is usually the master of war but this time, this time she was taken. I need you to find her, and help her come home. Me?! Oh boy said Carly.She paced some more and thought why not. OK Carly said let's find this mother of mine.
Follow me Zeus said and took Carly to another room. Here are some things you are gonna need. A cloak of invisibility, a sword that is hidden in this very pen. And some nectar, this my child will help heal any wounds. Oh boy Carly thought, what did I just sign up for? So how do I find her, who is she? What does she look like? Hush now child said Zeus. Your mothers name is Athena, and you are her splitting image. As to finding her once you leave this mountain you'll start to feel this feeling in your gut follow it. It will lead you to her. Dazed and confused Carly found herself back where she started, walking. I must be dreaming or loosing my mind. None of it made any sense. Then outta no where she got a twang in her gut...oh what's that? Oh no it wasn't a dream. Carly decided to follow her gut, she continued walking and as she continued the twang got stronger. Carly found herself walking for hours and then she could walk no more. Her stomach was on fire, her legs were wobbly, she couldn't see clearly. She passed out in front of Hogs Road Bar.
She awoke on a cracked leather couch. The smell of stale beer and cigarettes filled the air. She realized that her stomach no longer hurt. Carly heard a noise coming from behind the bar. She got up and decided to go check it out. She saw a grisly looking man leaning over a box. Uh excuse me! sir. Oh uh you're up. Yeah... Who are you? and why am I here? inquired Carly. Well that's easy my name is John. I own this place and you are here because I found you outside. Oh is all she could come up with. Then her stomach felt like someone was gut punching her. She keeled over in pain.Ahhhh she screamed. Carly asked for the bathroom, John pointed to a dark corner of the bar. She made her way there.Inside she stomach felt like it was being ripped open, she looked around and found a secret door hidden in the bathroom. Spooked out she stepped back and looked to see if she was alone. She was. As she made her way through the door her stomach started to ease. Huh she thought maybe this is a good thing. She followed the dim light to a little door. It was locked. She looked around and on top of the door frame there was a key. She unlocked the door. As she opened the door she was hit with a dingy aroma. ugh gross, Carly said out loud. She took a breath and went into the room. It was a tiny room, no light. She could make out a sink and what looked like a bucket someone was using as a toilet. In the corner she could see a bed and in the center there was a bulge. She walked toward the bed. She lifted the blanket and there right in front of her was a women. She was sleeping. Carly looked down in awe, she was beautiful, she kind of looked like her but prettier. She knew this was her mother this was Athena. She shook her but she didn't move. Scared Carly felt for a pulse. She had one. Scared she didn't know what to do. She sat down and took a closer look at this women who was supposed to be her mother. How do I have powers what are my powers she thought....itd be pretty cool to have super strength right now. She sighed then remembered what Zeus face her. She took out the cloak, the nectar and sword pen. She poured some nectar on her fingers, she then put her finger on Athena's mouth. Athena then flicked her eyes open and let out a moan. She blinked and looked at Carly. She smiled and reached out to her face. My baby, how did you find me? I followed my gut stuttered Carly. Oh thank goodness Athena said. Now we can get out of here. Hold up wait a minute Carly stood up. You need to tell me how you got here. How do we just get out of here? Athena sat up. I was on a mission. I was there to help but I didn't know it was an ambush. I don't know who took me or why. I woke up just now. Well said Carly let's get you out. Do you think you can walk? Athena put her legs over the bed and stood up. Wobbly she tried to walk. This isn't good stated Carly. No I'm afraid not said Athena. Sighing Carly was beside herself. Then she remembered the cloak, Here take this, My father's cloak, how did you get this? Oh said Carly. Zeus gave it to me. He did? yes. he's the reason I found you....and the reason I know about you. OK enough talking let's get out of here. Carly helped Athena with the cloak, she instantly disappeared. Follow me said Carly. They made their way to the bathroom. OK stop right here OK, we have to sneak pass John. Just as she said that she felt someone jerk her shoulder. Ahhh She screamed. She looked up and saw John. Not so fast she said. Athena I know you are there. There is no one with me said Carly. There is only me. You Lie Screamed John. I feel her. I know where she is. He started to walk around Carly. You see Carly you are not her only child. She abandoned me. Gave me to the trolls. He reached out his hand and pulled of the cloak. Tell her mother tell her what you did. Sadden Athena looked down. I had to I'm sorry. I owed them a child. It was meant to be. Meant to be John spat.... do you know how I lived? Do you know how they treated me he screamed. He walked to his mother and as he reached her he started to strangle her. Oh my god he's choking her Carly screamed. No one was there to help....she started to panic. Her hands went into her pocket and she wrapped her hand around the pen. The PEN!!!!! She took it out and clicked it. It transformed into a sword. She swung it at John. He went down in an instant. Horrified at what she did. Athena gasp for breath then ran to Carly. She put her arms around her and hushed her calm. Then she was floating again. She again found herself in front of Zeus. Thank you my child. You brought Athena back home to me. I can never repay you what you are truly owed. With that Carly found herself in her bed, wide awake. You have got to be kidding me she said, it was just a dream.......
