The instructions were clear:
'Go in, retrieve the package, don't look back.'
That simple.
He did everything right till he looked back by accident.
Before, he didn't bother thinking about the origin of every package that he was sent to retrieve. His only thought was to retrieve, deliver, and vanish.
For once, he decided to disobey and what he saw was a disaster. Behind him was a cruel shadow that devoured all living things.
He froze in his steps and inevitably started to tremble in fear. He closed his eyes as he felt the shadow's coldness dripping on his shoulder bit by bit.
He was slowly swallowed by the shadow. His frozen hands released the neatly-wrapped package onto the hard ground.
After the shadow had fully consumed him, it receded like a wave and vanished without a trace. The untouched package remained still as it waited for the next person to pick it up. Its instuctions were once again rewritten, with additional words.

A man walked a few steps in front of the package. He crouched and read the instructions:
'Go in, retrieve the package, don't look back, and don't disobey the instructions. '
He shrugged as he picked up the package and walked away.
