Haunting Nightmares
The whole park was bustling with the children playing around and making noises.However, he was least bothered by the noises but the thing that made him worried was the little girl coming towards him.She was approaching him repeating the same sentence again and again,''Daddy! Why did you do that?'' Her voice was sending chills down his spine.He wasn't able to move from his place.He began shouting on her,''I don't know who you are,get away from me,get away!'' Just then he heard a voice calling him and realisation dawned upon him.He could sense the smell of the hospital and the voice of the doctor who was calling him continuously, ''Mr Shah, please calm down.''As he opened his eyes,he found himself on a hospital bed.
''Why am I admitted here. What happened to me?'',Adil enquired. ''Just a minor accident,you were found unconscious on the street.I have examined you and you are completely fit to get discharged.Let's go ahead with some necessary forms that you need to sign'',replied the doctor. After completing the process he was discharged and went to his home rather his house because it was all empty,no one to take care of it and no one to fill it with laughter.He had moved here 2 years ago,right after he got married.His wife was a sober lady but unfortunately, this wasn't what he wanted.She tolerated everything for two years but atlast gave up after she lost her second child.Now,he was alone in this big house which haunted him every now and then.....
He was roaming around his house helplessly.He was too tired of the incidents that were happening around him,he decided to go out for some freshness.He went to a far away garden where he used to come before marriage.While driving to the place he reached the long bridge and his heart began throbbing but he pushed away his thoughts and drove straight to the destination.He sat on a bench away from the crowd of people thinking about the life changing incident that had happened a year ago...
''The doctors didn't agree for the sonography this time but if it's again a girl,I won't spare either of you'',he whispered to his wife before leaving her at the operation theatre.
The fear was evident on her face while she was taken inside.After a long restless period of time,the nurse came to inform Adil about his wife's condition with a huge smile on her face,''Congratulations sir!Both the mother and child are fit''
''May I know if it's a boy or girl please?'',he asked with curiosity dripping from his face.
''You've been blessed with a beautiful girl child,please check the medical prescription and buy these medicines'',replied the nurse and she went away leaving him in distress.He recieved a lot of calls from relatives, some congratulating him and some showed thier pity on him for having a 'girl child'.
A few days later, his wife was taken home.At night,when they were sleeping,he silently took the baby with him.He pressed the feeder in baby's mouth so that she won't cry.While taking her downstairs a few drops of milk dripped on the floor as he was pressing the feeder again and again in her mouth.He took the baby in his lap and drove to the garden bridge.The night was silently witnessing how a father shamelessly let his daughter drown in the depth of the river.Even the beautiful face and heartbreaking cries of the little girl couldn't melt his heart.Meanwhile,when his wife woke up from her sleep,she was frightened to find her husband and daughter missing.She helplessly got up from bed and started finding them.She was too scared but she kept on searching room to room.When she tried to move downstairs she slipped on the wet floor and fell down with a thud. When Adil reached home,he found his wife at the stairs,lying in a pool of blood.
Next day every one coming to funeral was talking about his ill fate that how this poor fellow lost his whole family.Some were saying that they had been cursed and others had their own theories to tell.
But something in Adil's life changed for ever.Since that day,he was haunted by the nightmares and hallucinations that promised to take a revenge from him...
Thinking of all this,he didn't know when his face got wet by his tears.He wiped all the tears away and headed to his house.While driving,when he reached the bridge,fear took over him.He tried to focus on driving but he was shocked when he saw a little girl in front of his car shouting at him,''Why didn't you let me live,why you killed me''.He was frightened and tried to move the steering wheel but lost the control over his car.The car hit the railings of the wooden bridge and threw him out into the river which was longing to punish the culprit of the dark silent night.
