After the Rain Comes the Sun - Chapter 55
At the Reader's Club after class, Fran, as he had planned, decided to tell Anja the great news about his grades. He didn't have a chance though. The teacher was constantly talking about books and giving him and the others questions and assignments. In addition, Vlado's friend, Pero, was sitting near him and Fran had to constantly keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't do something. They already had a Reader's Club a couple of times and nothing happened yet, but Fran knew that Pero didn't sign up for no reason and that he and Vlado must be up to something again. He just didn't know what.

When the Reader's Club ended and all the students and the teacher went out, Fran, Mateo, Eva and Anja were finally left alone. Anja and Eva packed their books into their bags and were getting ready to head home, when Fran said enthusiastically, "Guys, I have great news."
Anja and Eva stopped and looked curiously at Fran. He paused for a moment, then began to open the compartment of his bag. From it he took out three tests with the percentage written in red and the number of points on each. He proudly turned them towards Anja and Eva and waited for them to read. Anja brought her head closer and read what was written on the tests, and then her face lit up. "Fran, this is great! You got three subjects right!"
Fran grinned proudly. Anja was also smiling and Fran was indescribably glad to see that. For that smile of hers, he would study day and night if necessary.
"I seem to be a really good tutor." Anja said with a grin. Fran looked into her eyes and said in a gentle voice, "You really are."

While Anja and Fran looked into each other's eyes, a warm and intimate feeling filled the air around them. Anja's cheeks blushed a little when she smiled at Fran, and Fran couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest at the sight of her happiness. For a moment they just stood there, lost in each other's gaze, as if time had slowed down around them. Eva then cleared her throat and said, interrupting their moment, "Guys, I'm going home. Anja, you will stay a little longer, or-"
Anja snapped out of her thoughts and looked towards Eva.
"Yes, yes, I'm going too." She answered her, and then followed her towards the exit. Before leaving the library, she turned to Fran once more and said with a pleasant smile, "See you tomorrow Fran."
"See you." Fran replied, grinning from ear to ear.

He watched in a daze as they walked out the door and closed it behind them, and Mateo couldn't help but chuckle. Fran turned to him and smilingly asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing, it's just funny to see you in love. And judging by the way you and Anja looked at each other, I think it's mutual. Congratulations, my friend!" Mateo said jokingly and patted Fran on the shoulder. Fran's cheeks reddened and took on the color of a tomato.
"What are you talking about? I'm not in love!" Fran tried to refute Mateo's claims and convince him otherwise, but his flushed face showed Mateo that he was right.
"Sure, buddy." Mateo said with a teasing smile. Fran rolled his eyes and continued to convince Mateo, "And the way we looked at each other is not what you think. I was just happy about my grades and Anja was happy for me."
"Whatever you say." Mateo said with a grin, clearly not buying Fran's explanation. "If you need any love advice for Anja, just say so." Mateo winked at him with a smile, continuing to tease him. He enjoyed teasing his friend, while Fran, on the other hand, felt embarrassed and upset. He knew deep down that Mateo was right, but he didn't want to admit it to himself. He did not want to admit to himself that he had fallen in love with someone who is his friend. Because such things often end badly, very badly.
