She had never before known how to mind her own business, that mouth of hers was both a blessing and a curse, Nathaniel could only stare at her for what seemed like hours to him. His piercing glare was making her fidgit and he knew it, oh how he basked in his masculinity each time he saw the effect be had on Miss Hailey Spence. Though he was her senior by fifteen years; she made him feel like he was the child.
"Hi Miss Spence, I'm glad you could make it, I do apologise for the scenery, but it was the only place I could think of on such short notice." he said all this with nonchalance, Hailey was truly conflicted by his act, she refused to play along.
"What were you and my sister talking about?" she asked with defiance.
"Its nothing to bother your head about?" he said seeming a bit worried, she stared at him with the sincerest of affection
he always treated her like a sister and no one has ever understood they always mistook his affection for something else, but little did they know that it was she who truly wished to be in his arms...
she thought to herself, for Hailey feared that Nathaniel would never see her as anything more than the little guy who sobbed in his arms the moment she was made aware of her father's condition. He was there for her and she would never forget it, although she has not been the nicest person to him lately, avoiding him to prevent senseless gossip from reaching her mother's ear. This act was one Hailey saw as utter selfishness, he needed her and she was going to be there for him too.
"I'm sorry, I was truly wrong... please forgive me. I don't know if there's much I can do but, as of now I'm here and I will be as long as you me." as she placed her gloves hand on Nathaniel's shoulder it sent a chill down his spine and he knew today was the day he'd have to make Hailey his own...
