The Call
The Call

There at first light of day
In the early hours of the morning
While we were still fast asleep,
We heard the loud alarm screaming out for all ears to hear

Immediately this asleep log bodies of ours arose with great immense strength
Dressing up in our uniforms with speed
Our guns stuck to our Shoulders

As we lined up in order of our
ranks
To receive instructions from our superior's
A loud bang was heard from the dark sky
Through the pitch clouds came missiles falling like rain drops

Like a dream I saw bodies ascending & descending
Arms ripping off
Legs without a body
Holes in the head
Burnt Bodies without faces

Then i realized that
We were under attack
With the ceaseless dropping of missiles on us
I saw nothing else but white smoke mixed with blood
Souls leaving lifeless bodies

With my deaf ears covered in blood
My head aching like the world fell on my shoulders
My legs wanting to run but I'm still on the ground

Within me I thought
Samu-el this is your last day
There out of my pocket slipped out a picture of my beloved
Time froze and everything paused around me

Looking up to my country's burning flag
There I saw a dying flame
I heard a voice calling out
It was the national anthem playing

Like an endothermic reaction
My nerves ignited with strength
Like dead bones we rose up and marched to death like lambs to be slaughtered
Yet in those moments we metamorphosis into wolves
Fighting proudly & strongly till the last man drops
