DO YOU LOVE AS GOD LOVES?
Bible reference: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up...'

I know it's strange to ask such a question. As christians, we are expected to follow one of the most important commandments of Christ in the new testament which is to love our neighbors as ourselves. There are so many passages and verses in the Bible telling us to love, show kindness and purse peace with our brethrens but I really loved 1 Corinthians 13 because it describes what love should be. It gives it so much relevance and definition- not just something we have to do but it's characteristics as well.
Growing up in a rough family like mine where there is so much unaffection and indifference, there's bound to be trouble. Nobody wants to accept they are actually doing something wrong or they posses bad qualities.
Paul describes carnality in
1Corinthians 3:3," for you are still . For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?"
It's always very difficult to accept people for who they are or forgive them for whatever they have done to you but that's what Jesus has demanded we do. To love others has He loved us. Jesus loves us so much that while we were still sinners, He died for us and now, He has demanded we show the same love towards others.
It's not always easy to turn the other cheek when you have been offended or critized repeatedly. There were times when I would get really angry and offended and speak out because I am human after all but whenever I read the word of God, I decided to love them and forgive them despite my anger.
1 John 4:19-21:
We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
Loving a friend, sibling, parent, sibling or outsider doesn't necessarily mean that we must always be with them. Some friends or family can be very toxic and in this case, we might need to stay very far away from them to keep our emotional and mental health in check. Love means praying for them from a distance amidst being provoked, constantly forgiving them even when you haven't received an apology, being there and assisting them in any ways you can when there is a need for support.

The Word of God tells us that " all have sinned and fall short of His glory..." Paul even went forward to remind us that if any man says he has no sin, then he lies and the truth is not in him.
God is so merciful that He still forgives and cares about us despite our setbacks, careless and vulgar words, blasphemies, spiritually indifference and so many more. With the rate at which the various nations curse and provoke the kingdom of God because of the work of the spirit of evil within them, we should have expected God to food the earth once again but He sacrificed His only son Jesus on the cross to wash our sons away. Despite our shortcomings, He poured His Holyspirit on as many who are willing to receive the living spirit of God as an assurance of our salvation. How much more we humans- God never asked for us to sacrifice our lives for one another. He has only asked us to love as He would love, forgive as He would forgive.
I know it is not an easy thing to do because I am currently going through this setback but I beseech you brethren to forgive and love one another as Christ loves us. Let the Holyspirit in by asking for help in the situation and let Him fill your heart with Love and peace. Amen.
