Wedding Nightmare
#WritcoStoryPrompt73
She met him at a wedding. Her friend's wedding. She was one of the six bridesmaids, not the maid of honor or even the guest of honor, but she was there. She wasn't particularly outstanding in appearance. But she felt lucky to be chosen as a part of the bridal party.
He wasn't someone the bride knew. She had never heard of him either. But she wasn't sure if she wanted to, upon meeting him.
Olivia Green was a 23 year old artist's assistant. She had short strawberry blonde hair, hazel blue eyes and she wore a purple dress, just like all the other bridesmaids. Hers was the only one that had sleeves - well, kind of. It was a halterneck dress. Her face was lightly, but noticeably made up, her hair shining and neatly washed and a scent of violet perfume spray floated about her.
Leon Matthews was a 24 year old commercial model, and seemed quite interested in talking about his job.
This is how they met.
For some reason Liliana, who was the bride and Olivia's friend, wanted her wedding cake served while standing on a platform placed on top of a dolphin marble fountain. She wanted to cut the cake there before jumping down in high heels and all, and offering plates to everyone who attended the wedding.
Olivia scrunched her eyes shut and shook her head, hand on her scalp. Liliana and her crazy ideas! What next, pray tell, what next?
So the 55 guests all followed, very curious to see what would happen.
"Olivia, sweetie, why don't you and Mary-Rose, Graceleen and Liane come to help me bring up plates onto the fountain? Then I can throw the cake down plate by plate and the guests can catch! First one to catch is the first to get married and the last is the first to ... well, get fat! Come, be a darling, and assist me, won't you? The guests might be hungry for fishing for cake by now!"
Olivia barely managed to keep herself from rolling her eyes. Always treat others Biblically - the way you would want to be treated - she reminded herself. If I had crazy ideas for my wedding I desperately wanted to be carried out, I probably wouldn't want others to roll their eyes to the Heavens and sigh every time they were asked to do something for me.
Olivia steadily marched over to the fountain in her 4 inch high heels, aware that many eyes were on her. They were probably expecting her to stumble and tear her dress to mid thigh like she always did or something else.
When she reached the 10 foot tall fountain, she lifted her wide, floor length dress and carefully started climb-
ing up the ladder to where Liliana and her bridegroom, David, was already half impatiently waiting, 6 inch heels heels clicking, hand on hip.
David looked a little nervous, looking from person to person staring up at them in amasement from below. Then he fixed his pink and green spotted tie and put on shades.
Liliana squealed and...
