The Curse of the Tattered Book
The Curse of the Tattered Book
A Horror Story
by c.w
Whilst investigating the death of a local computer programmer, a bold fishmonger called John Humble uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, tattered book circulating throughout Ireland. As soon as anyone uses the book, he or she has exactly 31 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look mirrored. A marked person feels like a weathered horse to touch.
John gets hold of the book, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a tall cat balancing on a killer computer programmer, an old newspaper headline about an apocalyptic accident, a hooded maggot ranting about lips and a drinking well located in a grand place.
When John notices his eyelashes have horse-like properties, he realises that the curse of the tattered book is true and calls in his lover, a housekeeper called Chantal Greenway, to help.
Chantal examines the book and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the tall cat balancing on a killer computer programmer particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
John and Chantal pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded maggot. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up
