What is your intuition?
What is your intuition?

According to Wikipedia, intuition is your inner voice that can help you navigate the world with confidence and ease. It can tell you what feels right or wrong, what direction to take, and what decisions to make. Intuition is based on your experiences and knowledge, and it's often a reflection of unconscious learning. It can come in many forms, including:
Physical sensations: A sinking feeling in your stomach, a quickened pulse, sweaty palms, or goosebumps
Emotions: Fear and anxiety
Persistent thoughts: Dreams, suspicions, or confusion
Hesitation: Before getting on a plane, entering a building, or going on a date.

We all know that children and animals have a keen sense of intuition. As children, we all had a heightened intuition, but as we got older, we stopped listening to it. So, do we even know when it's telling us something anymore? I know for me, mine has kicked in a few times. So much so that I can't ignore it anymore, so I just listen.

The first time, I was going for a minor outpatient procedure, but the night before and that morning, I had this sense of dread. I looked around my house like it would be the last time I would see it. I made my then husband promise me to give my organs if something happened to me and to take care of our girls. He told me I was talking crazy that this was a minor surgery, so stop it. But I couldn't shake this feeling. I didn't know what it was at the time as this was the first time it ever happened, but whatever it was, it was a strong feeling.

During the operation, the doctor accidentally cut my colon, and because I wasn't cleared out, I went into septic shock. I had a really bad infection, my temperature spiked to 105, and I almost died twice, I was told later on when I finally came out of it.
Did I know something was going to happen? I don't know because I had never experienced this before.

The second time was years later on a vacation. We found a guy in a sporting goods store that told us he would take us on a fishing expedition. That morning, here was that feeling again. I couldn't shake it as hard as I tried, and I can't explain it either. As we were heading out, I actually said out loud that I was going to leave a note telling who we went with in case they found our bodies. Yes, I said what I my intuition was screaming. At that moment, I told my then husband to call and cancel. He thought I was nuts, but I knew I was not going as this feeling was just getting louder by the second. The minute he called to cancel and he hung up the phone like magic, this feeling went away.

Recently, I met someone, and he seemed too good to be true. He was good-looking, had a great job, he worked out and liked all of the same things I did. We had a lot in common and I liked him. But on the second date, there was that feeling again. I tried to poo poo it away saying maybe because I've been single too long that I was just fucked up. Maybe it was my problem. I was doing all I could to not listen to my intuition but it was screaming at me and this time I was listening. I had nothing invested here and even if I did I would be out.

So today my friends I am here to tell you don't ignore what you are feeling. Listen to your body, listen to your mind and what it is trying to tell you. You have intuition for a reason, to keep you safe so don't try to poo poo it away. Stop and listen, really listen and you will be one with your intuition.
