Judge not, that ye be not judged

“Come with us you sinner!” the shouts were heard loud and clear by the pilgrims within the Temple premises, and they saw the Pharisees dragging a young woman through its doors.

“Please forgive me! Please-” the shouts were heard in her feminine voice, but quickly overshadowed by the men around, “Shut up sinner! You shall be stoned to death!”

“There he is!” One of them shouted. The others thus dragged the women and came near a Jewish Rabbi who was sitting along with his disciples. The man didn’t look up, but continue to write something on the ground.

“Rabbi Yeshua!” Called one of the Pharisees, “we need your advice on something…you see, this woman here committed adultery! She was caught in the action itself! Oh rabbi, how should she be punished?”

Yet another one said, “Prophet Moses commanded us to stone adulterers, but we must know what you think?”

Amongst the chattering crowds, whilst some already took up stones to prepare themselves, Yeshua laid silent, still writing onto earth. The disciples were annoyed. “We know you Pharisees; you are here to test our Lord! Go ahead and stone her to death, for you already know the law!” they thought, “but to accuse Rabbi falsely, you coerce him to answer such questions!”

But the Rabbi spoke not, and the Pharisees grew agitated. They said, “Oh Rabbi, please advise us!”

Then the Carpenter, Son of Marry looked up, and said, “She shall be stoned to death! All of you, who are sinless, go ahead and stone her!”

And silence loomed over the Temple premises. The woman hid her head in fear, but none dared to throw the stones.

“Sinless, you say?” The Pharisees asked, and all who heard, lay silent, judging themselves. Had none committed a sin, ever? Did they not violate the covenant when no eyes watched? The old rabbis and young children, all looked down for they could longer match eyes with the Holy Temple, and they walked out slowly. Stones fell onto the grounds, and all left the Holy Grounds until the last person had gone away, all but him and the woman.

The girl raised her head in fear, but to her surprise, she found none but the young Rabbi and herself. And she stood silently, knowing that the Pharisees and scribes and all others had left them.

The man who had claimed to be the Messiah of Jews raised his head again, and asked, “Did no one condemn you?”

“No…no my Lord…”she said, in a confused and fearful voice, yet she strangely felt as if she was forgiven by the Dweller of Heavens Himself!

“And I don’t condemn you either”, said the Son of Man, “Go and sin no more!”
