The king and the queen were always busy. They had to attent the court and conventions,travel far and near and look after many people. So, Princess Laura often had to stay alone in the huge palace. After she had finished her studies for the day, she would wander in the gardens and the rooms amusing herself. One day, a new person arrived in the palace."Call me Nanny!" she announced. She was a plump,apple- cheeked lady and she began to set things in order. "Time for a bath! Time to play! Time to go out and make friends! Papa and Mummy can spend time with Laura!" She organised even the king and the queen, calling them 'Papa and Mummy'. But Laura was delighted, because Nanny told her stories and made up games and let her make friends! She was not lonely any more and she had found someone who would understand all her troubles!
