It was a regular day with pearly glow in the sky, birds chirping all around, spreading the ambience of the morning aura. However a boy of twelve named Davis was interrupting the silence of his bedroom by meandering hither and thither.
Davis was shy by nature appeared lighter in shade, bearing oceanic eyes, strawberry lips, and was very affable boy , but was carrrying a pale face that morning. He was in a search of a tiny pearl which he dropped from his mini hands while having a look into a wooden pearl case. He was horried as the pearl was dear to his father.
"What are you looking for?" Vernon asked his son Davis.
" The pearl" kid with a whispering voice replied his father.
Davis apologized his father for loosing it, Vernon comforted him by saying that , he would find it.
Davis with much eagerness asked Vernon" Deda ! why that pearl is so precious to you, is it that expensive?"
Vernon replied " I dont know about the expense son, but surely it is too dear to me, its a token of my love and life."
With much curiousity Davis uttered " Can you elaborate it, is there any story behind it , please Deda ! let me know ."
Vernon replied " Ok dear let me narrate you my story"
He goes on describing about himself and his life then .
Vernon was tall, well built boy with a courteous appearance but his fate had been barbarous towards him. He lost his parents at young age leading to be taken away by his paternal uncle. His childhood was showered with darkness.He was exploited and humiliated by people with whoem he lived.
He had no hopes left within himself to live.
He couldnt bear all these distress . One fine morning he ran away from home to a Lavender beach nearby. A deadly thought conquered his mind, to end his life there.
Soon he reached the beach, slumped on the warm sand soundlessly, weeping and trembling alone. He was engraved in deep agony but was sure to attempt a suicide.
With teary eyes he look around, all of sudden his eyes got stuck on a seashell, that shell appeared somewhat unusual to Vernon thus he went there in no time and picked it up.
He opened it and was mesmerized to see, a bright, alluring, milky white pearl inside the seashell. It carrried an incredible lustre lavishing a priceless glaze. To Vernon that pearl appeared as a sense of hope and light.
With the hope to get a bright and wonderful life ahead just like the pearl, he jumped into the sea, embracing the pearl in his right palm.
He felt the coolness of the sea all along his body and went deeper and deeper, his weight pressing on the liquid made him feel being lost in the darkness of the sea. Soon his consciousness vanished.
After a while he regained his conciousness with a sudden jerk on his forhead. The sight infront of him was so astonishing, a sense of feeling trembled along him to be in heaven , soon he realized it was all real. He could appropriately breathe under water and his eyes functioned crystal and clear.He felt inflammation on one of his hand, when he observed it , he found to be tied in a seaweed kind of rope,very well built ,inside a huge rusty cage like stucture, with this view he finally came to conclusion that he was trapped somewhere in another kind of world which differed from the human society.
The place was enchanted and was illuminated by wizardry of jelly fishes, presence of various kind of seaweeds and coral reefs imparted a view of arena full of flowers blossomed. A pleasent aroma revolved all around .Small fishes were floating back and forth seemed as they were babbling.
Vernon was about to collect himself and accept the situation soon he was ridden by another shock.
Around twenty two mermids(sea creatures) came all around the cage .
Long body structures, half human half fish figurines, their fins seemed fragile, although they were blessed with beauty and long dark hairs. They seemed non less than goddessess but still can make human heart tremble with fear.
Glimses of fear appeared in Vernon's face. He soon realized that he could understand their language, see, breathe under water all because of the pearl which he was holding till then.
It wasn't an ordinary pearl, it connected terrestrial and aquatic world . It was. like a passage for humans to be in the mermids world and for mermids vise versa.
All of sudden with a miraculous light there appeared Aurora, the queen mother mermid, all other siren bowed infrom of her, she seemed to be superior goddess of the sea. She passed a judgement infront of all present there that Vernon was to be killed after a ritual day ( an essential day for all mermids) , as he saw their world and discovered their unseen place.
With this she dissapeared and other mermids followed her.
Vernon was speechless of what he saw but this time he wasn't frightened with the situation, as there also he felt himself to be useless and sentenced to death, his heart was grieving.
Serene, was an exceptionally beautiful, vibrant and lively mermid resided there, she was known for her heart of gold, her smile could have melt hearts of people if she had been a human.
She observed the situation of Vernon and started to empathize.
So she once decided to secretly visit Vernon and to have a word with him.
On a fine afternoon dodging other mermids, Serene swum to Vernon.She consoled him by saying not be be afraid of her and to regard her as a friend.
She asked Vernon why he was there. Vernon with a heavy heart expressed his feeling that how he wanted to end his life and with that thought he jumped into the sea.
Serene felt too pity for Vernon and then she returned back .
Serene spoke to Moon, her dearest friend. On hearing her Moon warned Serene to stay away from Vernon, if she continues she has to die, she cant built relations with a human.
Omitting Moon's advice Serene the very next day again went to Vernon, She thought to encourage and inspire him to live.
She said to Vernon that life is a kind of boon imparted to living beings, one should cherish it , atleast give a try to make it worthy.
Vernon flooded with misery reverted her that he considered that boon as a punishment and explained her that what he has gone through in his past.
Serene then narrates him a story that once she had been in the human world with the help of the pearl, and turned into a human form, she drank robusta coffee after which she was about to throw up as it didnt suited her taste well She managed to communicate with humans and made many female friends there but kept her identity as a secret as she didn't wanted to frighten them . Her experience there was mesmerizing.
She followed saying that once she met a man who was drunked and tried to harass her but she injured him by using her supernatural powers and made his condition pathetic.
On hearing her Vernon burst out of laughter and a sense of humor flowed around them.
Serene was relieved as she saw Vernon's laughter for the very first time. She added that she lost her pearl there in rush, but Moon used her pearl and helped Serene to return to the sea back .
( Vernon understood that the pearl he had , belonged to Serene .)
After the conversation she went back.
Serene was so fasinated by Vernon that now she started visiting him without even skipping a day. She answered all queries of Vernon and thus he also got fond of her.
One day Vernon questioned "Aurora has already declared a death sentence for me , so why you are still cheering me up to live ?" Serene with a pause replied " Aurora is my mother goddess and she showcase a character of humbleness to the deserving, if she knows about you and your suffering, she will ceratinly bless you with great life ahead, all I need is to persuade her before the ritual day ".
Vernon out of curiosity wanted to know more about them and about the ritual as well.
Serene informed him that they fed on small zooplanktons and sea weeds .
She further notified that there was a day called the Ritual day , were all the mermids came together held hands and grab energy from the sun in a equinox day. If any went missing the ritual remain incomplete and mermids would die shortly due to lack of energy among themselves.
As days passed Vernon got more enthralled by her. He waited for Serene to just get a glance of her.
To him she appeared as a ray of hope and reason of contentment. On other side Serene felt a warm affection towards Vernon. They both felt to be on cloud nine when they were together.
Soon they expressed their love and compassion to each other although they carried a future which seemed unclear , still they couldnt resist themselves from meeting each other.
They were so much entangled with each other that, Serene almost forgot the Ritual day was ahead and she was unable to notify mother mermid.
Serene realized soon that her ignorance of the prime day could lead to demise of her beloved.
Her bright world got covered with clouds of sorrow.
After constantly pondering ,Serene decided to save Vernons life by releasing him on the Ritual day. For the sake of her love she was ready to to face death. She knew that Vernon wouldn't encourage her decision so she preserved her thought upto herself.
Eventually the equinox day came, Sun's rays were laterally striking the sea surface and was announcing the emergence of the Ritual day, Vernon was still in captive, bells rang all around, drums beats were louder that time, fishes and mermids were humming and singing, the surrounding was litted with miraculous lights ,appeared much like tiny stars twinkling, small fishes were rushing here and there appeared as they were forming colourful garland kind of structures , coral reefs were falunting dramatic shine , a truly enchanted view.
All mermids gathered except, Aurora, as her source of energy was only the water. She was also regarded as the water diety, her function was just to balance the marine ecosystem in which the aquatic species were breathing. She had powers to create life and to end it also, thus other sea creatures worshipped her.
Then soon mermids held hand together forming a circle, ritual rays were still not on them till then , they were bsy babbling.
Meanwhile Serene absconded from there and swum to Vernon, flexing her tail back and forth. Soon she reached near the cage .
She then slashed the sea weed which was knitted on Vernon's hand with the help pf her fragile tail fin and collapsed the doorway of the cage by usage of her mystical powers.
Vernon was in the state of trauma and disapproved Serene's decision as he wanted to live with her.
Serene promised him by saying that she would stay with him once he get released from there and gets into his world again.
Deep down she knew that this was their departure moment.With a heavy heart she released Vernon and rushed him towards the surface of the water.
Meanwhile other mermids configured that Serene was missing, they all started searching her.
Shortly they realized the whole situation .
As soon as they saw them, they started chasing them. Other mermids with no ways left chased Serene to assassinate her inorder to complete the ritual.They transformed themselves into monstrous horrific structures and were obstructing them.
Serene left with no means other then using all her strength. So she assembled all her supreme powers and pushed Vernon to the surface of the sea. Her true love empowered her and made her successful. Vernon with a thrust popped out of the sea surface and crambled on the beach. He still had the pearl in his shirt's pocket.
Beneath the water surface Serene was almost dying while fighting for her love...
Listening all this Davis wondered that his father has gone through all this tragedy and got the pearl ,his brain was now flooded with multiple questions.
He humly puts a question " Deda, did she died for your sake ,where is she now, dont you miss her, the mermid?"
Vernon with a peculiar smile replied " Not really baby, as I married her."
Davis now was in the state of tremendous shock and asked " Is Serene my mother ? but her name in Neena.
Vernon replied " Yes, she changed her name to Neena to mark a new beginning on herself. She got documented her new name and thus everyone regarded her as Neena.
Davis was amazed, he felt that he has a family which is so unusual , before this story, all his childhood bedtime magical stories appeared fake to him he thought them being imaginary . But now he could really connect with the fact that magic does exist in real world too.
For extending the conversation further Davis rushed to his mother and asked her pleasantly
" Mamma, are you a mermid?"
With his eyes filled with hopes to be in a mystical situation he looked his mother.
Serene replied " No Davis,
I use to be a mermid , but now I am a human like you." To draw a perfect conclusion to thier story so that Davis could understand the situation in a more appropriate manner , she elaborated the story to Davis.
That day when Serene was about to die supreme diety mother mermid Aurora, appeared with a sparkling white light. She understood the whole situation. She was touched by the fact that Serene was about to sacrifice herself for her love. So she decided to transform Serene to a human being by using her magical powers .
Although her heart was aching as Serene was just like her child, she adored her a lot as she was among the best creation of Aurora , her humbless and sacrificial feelings were all inculcated by Aurora herself but she never knew that this could lead to their separation, thus she grieved for her .
The supreme deity then closed her eyes and a mysterious blue beam of light got emitted from her body which travelled along the water and touched Serene , her tail fins then developed into legs , her hands become more prominent, her gills faded and lungs appeared within no time Serene got transformed to a beautiful human, bearing all feminine characters.
As soon as Serene turned human all her powers vanished.
Aurora blessed her a great life ahead .
Like that other mermids were also able to complete the ritual, as mermid circle was completed without Serene. She was no longer a mermid.
The event pierced Aurora's heart so much that she took back all the pearls belonging to all other mermids to restrict them from exploring the human world . She didn't wanted to loose any other mermid and that sort of event to reappear.Thus she closed all the ways of mermids to visit humans anymore.
When Serene was out of the sea, she saw Vernon was crying out loud with the pearl in his hand. She rushed towards him , she broke down and cried too.
Vernon with teary eyes embraced Serene and said that if she had not returned, he would have jumped again into the sea with that pearl.
Serene reminded him, her promise to be with him once he returned his world . The weather was calm that day and was marking their togetherness as victory of thier love.
As supreme diety had blessed their love so they decided to lead a wonderful life ahead .They went back and set up a new home at some other town , which was far from Vernon's earlier place. They wanted to avoid all the negativity which led Vernon's life miserable.
Vernon tried his luck and was able to become a successful enterpreneur whereas Serene learned all sorts of human being stuffs like cleaning ,cooking, driving etc. She supported Vernon with all her heart.
In a short while , the couple tied the knot and they were merrily together.
Davis eyes were glittering with joy ,his innocence couldn't restrict him from asking Serene " Mamma, can I become a siren with the help of that pearl?".
To this she replied " Dear,the pearl has lost all its magic within it , the same day when I turned out to be a human. That pearl we kept , is just a token of our togetherness and a gifted new life which we need to cherish."
Davis felt his heart being sinking , and his brain was flooded with guilt as he has lost the pearl. He with a deep voice muttered " I have lost the valuable token, the pearl."
With this tears rolled down his cheeks.
Serene affectionately hugged her son, and comforted him, then she unfloded her left palm and showed Davis. She was holding the pearl.
She informed that while wiping the study shelf of his bedroom she found the pearl lying under the shelf, so she kept it with herself.
Motherly glow sparkled in Serene's eyes
She further added that if he would have lost it also, they had Davis now with them , as their true token of love.
The sight of the pearl made Davis to jump in joy. He took it from his mother then kept it cautiously inside the wooden pearl case.
Being overwhelmed he asserted that he will always adore it as for him, the pearl was the reason that he was blessed with such amiable parents.
He then tenderly hugged both his parents . With a sense of safety he assured them that he would keep their secret within himself for ever.
With this the family joyfully went out, grabbing a picnic basket filled of tangy oranges , apples and grapes, they put on their hats and headed towards the Lavender beach to cherish the old memories.

Vernon with teary eyes embraced Serene and said that if she had not returned, he would have jumped again into the sea with that pearl.
Serene reminded him, her promise to be with him once he returned his world . The weather was calm that day and was marking their togetherness as victory of thier love.
As supreme diety had blessed their love so they decided to lead a wonderful life ahead .They went back and set up a new home at some other town , which was far from Vernon's earlier place. They wanted to avoid all the negativity which led Vernon's life miserable.
Vernon tried his luck and was able to become a successful enterpreneur whereas Serene learned all sorts of human being stuffs like cleaning ,cooking, driving etc. She supported Vernon with all her heart.
In a short while , the couple tied the knot and they were merrily together.
Davis eyes were glittering with joy ,his innocence couldn't restrict him from asking Serene " Mamma, can I become a siren with the help of that pearl?".
To this she replied " Dear,the pearl has lost all its magic within it , the same day when I turned out to be a human. That pearl we kept , is just a token of our togetherness and a gifted new life which we need to cherish."
Davis felt his heart being sinking , and his brain was flooded with guilt as he has lost the pearl. He with a deep voice muttered " I have lost the valuable token, the pearl."
With this tears rolled down his cheeks.
Serene affectionately hugged her son, and comforted him, then she unfloded her left palm and showed Davis. She was holding the pearl.
She informed that while wiping the study shelf of his bedroom she found the pearl lying under the shelf, so she kept it with herself.
Motherly glow sparkled in Serene's eyes
She further added that if he would have lost it also, they had Davis now with them , as their true token of love.
The sight of the pearl made Davis to jump in joy. He took it from his mother then kept it cautiously inside the wooden pearl case.
Being overwhelmed he asserted that he will always adore it as for him, the pearl was the reason that he was blessed with such amiable parents.
He then tenderly hugged both his parents . With a sense of safety he assured them that he would keep their secret within himself for ever.
With this the family joyfully went out, grabbing a picnic basket filled of tangy oranges , apples and grapes, they put on their hats and headed towards the Lavender beach to cherish the old memories.
