Weird ship- 1
Chapter 1
The loud, hollow siren of the ship's horn jolted the sleepy, port town.
She emerged out of the swirling mist like a star making a grand entrance. Only she wasn't a star but a ship that had been missing for the past hundred years...
She looked dark black and tattered unafftected by the lightening stiking its deck. There was no soul visible anywhere. The torn off white sails were floating in the strong wind along with the strong waves rocking the ship back and forth. Its black flag on the mast resembled a red skull which was akin to a rising dragon's eye.
It crashed on the big boulders on the shore sounding like a missile thrown. The port authorities rushed to the beach but seeing her they took a few steps back and unconscious shivered slightly. They took their loaded pistols and marched forward to her. The anchor that was idly floating like a fish net was captured and affixed to a stone. A ladder was brought and they climbed up with cold sweats on their brows on a winter day . As they jumped on the deck one of the wooden pillars crushed to pieces . They took light steps and moved forward. towards the hull . The door was locked and the lock was rusted. One of them brought a toolbox. They took out a hammer and started beating it . After a few attempts it broke and fell down .
The metal door opened with a crying sound of you hear of a dog crying . Maybe it is because the door is rusted too, they thought. There were spider webs deep and sticky hung on the ceiling and mounds of dust shuffled as they came in. The room had one window where the shadow of the light illuminated the room. They took light steps and glanced inside the captain's cabin. There was nobody. An old calendar was hung up there of the year 1825. It was yellowish , dampened by the years of fog and salt water but several dates were marked. On December 20 , 1825 it was marked arrival which was also marked on the date July 20, 1825. Today was December 21, 2019 which means the ship has finally arrived after many years. There was an inner room with a wooden door which was eaten by termites and looked barren . They opened it and found a skeleton in rags and with a knife stuck on his ribs. There was a lot of dried blood that made some of them nauseatic. They also found a key.
The key was made of bronze, heavy and huge which fitted in the palm of their hand . They searched for other items. A box of empty rum bottles was placed downside and the masts of the ship were torn to rags.
There was no one on the ship, obviously. But then who blew the siren alerting that the ship is coming. A wild thought brought shivers to their body thinking: "Is it haunted?"
They searched all for a lock that matched the bronze key but found none. But they found a heavy tin box marked 'Confidential ' which they tried to unload it from the ship.
They came down the ship and alerted the local police for the investigation of the case. The key was handed to the captain.
