Me and My Uncle Wes
Me and my Uncle Wes used to do everything together, hiking, stealing, drugging, etc... From the outside looking in, it looked like Wes didn't love me. But he did. Despite all of the bad things we did and did to each other, he never said, "no" to me. There were several instances where I was about to become homeless and he would take me in and let me live with him. Of course, we would do drugs together, but he loved me. I just know he did. Whenever the track ran out with the Salvation Army and my quest to become a preacher, ended. Guess who let me in? When I was just seventeen I was kicked out of my father's house, who let me in? You guessed it, Uncle Wes. My Uncle Wes died seven years ago from a drug overdose, but his memory and love will live on. I am grateful to have had such a great mentor. He was a hard worker and that inspires me to be a hard worker in whatever I pursue. Thank you, Uncle Wes.© All Rights Reserved
