Memories: The Good The Bad and The Ugly (and why I shouldn't be alive right now)
So a couple years ago in Texas we had a freak snow storm and got about a foot and a half of snow. everything was frozen and a white blanket of snow covered everything. at the time I lived in a camper trailer and I had just moved it onto a friend's property. I hadn't gotten very much sleep for 3 Days of moving and getting settled in. I was too stressed out to sleep and plus it was freezing cold in my camper trailer. so knowing my body needed rest I decided to take matters into my own hands and sedate myself by drinking five shots of vodka and smoking some weed. I knew that the vodka and the weed on top of lack of sleep was a sure way to knock me out so that I could rest heavily and that nothing should be able to disturb my much needed rest. when my friend who owned the property that I just moved on to and also lived in the trailer next to mine came in to check on me, he found me nodded out under a blanket wrapped around a little tiny heater with my dogs on each side of me and my inebriated and comatose state I couldn't walk so he had to carry me into his trailer house where it was much warmer due to a wood burning stove that he had just installed himself 3 days before . It was doing an excellent job of keeping his place warm. he tried to take me to his bedroom but I insisted that I wanted to sleep on the couch and I tried to get up and walk in there but I couldn't cuz I was so intoxicated and stoned and sleepy so he ended up carrying me back in the living room and covering me up now I vaguely remember him mentioning something about having to leave for a short period of time so I'm assuming that he must have thrown some logs in the wood burning stove and left after he tucked me in on the couch. all I know is as I'm laying there pretty much a dead to the world ,sound asleep ; I feel something hit my chest over and over and over again and me in the current state that I was in, took a minute to wake up. the unusual impact repeatedly happening on top of me finally happens enough that I opened my eyes and the first thing I see is about 5 ft away from me and the couch that I'm on ,the entire wall behind the wood burning stove is on fire . the fire had completely engulfed the wall and was now going up into the ceiling . next thing I see is to my left my seven-year-old dog named twitch who's now above me on the back of the couch looking down at me . She wagged her tail twice and then I look to the right of me and standing beside the couch with his head on my arm looking up at me like "come on we got to go" was my 4 yr old pitbull named Cautious. he also wagged his tail twice as if they were telling me "let's go Mama let's go we got to go " and then I noticed that the front door is wide open . so I jump up and we go to run outside and me of course I try to put out the fire because I don't want my friend's house to burn with all the stuff in it and so I run to his room where his door shut and locked and knock on the door and then I remember there being a chick in her boyfriend in the other room who also lived there who had ben in bed before I passed out for the final time so I banged on her door trying to wake them up afraid that they were still in their asleep but nobody answered so I tried to get water from the faucet to put out the fire but the pipes were frozen so I grabbed a bucket and went outside to the pond but the pond was frozen so I tried to fill up the bucket with snow to throw on the Fire and brought it inside and threw it on the fire and it didn't help so then I grabbed a jug of sweet tea out of the refrigerator and put it on the fire but by then I looked up and seen that the fire was fully into the ceiling and I was afraid it was going to cave in so that's then I knew me and my dogs had to get out of there now so I was completely helpless to save my friends house and stuff from burning. so we made our way through the snow to the neighbor's house who was also the landlord and woke them up and had them call my friend to tell him the news. well when they called him and told him the house was on fire they didn't tell him anything about me being there so he had no idea that i was alive. he had pulled up and he was just sitting out in his car not coming in and I wondered what was up with that and then finally I walked outside and he was like a deer and headlights he just knew that I had died in that fire because he seen my state that he had left me in and he knew that nothing should have woken me up and that I should have died in that fire. in fact he said he was sitting there bawling trying to think of how was going to tell my mom I was dead . but my dogs saved my life. the little one that jumped on my chest I lost recently, she was my hero . they could have ran out that door since the door was wide open and been safe but they refused to leave me and if I hadnt woke up they probably would have died in the fire with me that's how special loyal and true my two dogs were and are.
