Blood within Tears
I couldn’t lay down, I watched the door like a hawk. The lights were off everywhere, surely the doors were locked. He may have a key for the boat but did he have the key to the locks.

I exhaled in relief when Tbor came swerving around the corner, “lift your feet,” he growled, his eyes nearly bulging from the heavy pressure. He could get killed. I noticed the revolver tucked in the back of his waistband.

I didn’t have any shoes or socks. Only a white shirt and baggy scrub like gray pants. It's going to be cold. He jingled the keys to the sliding glass door and we launched away. We both jumped head first into the boat as someone screamed out in the distance. I almost threw up from holding my breath.

“Ok keep your head down-” he demanded as the boat vibrated. The water rocked us as we backed up and took off. A part of me wanted to celebrate. We really were doing this. I lifted my head and examined the waves swishing around us. The wind was wet and chilly.

“I said head down,” he shouted as spotlights were racing towards us. So it begins.

I plastered my back to the side of the wall. I noticed a semi auto rifle resting on the seat in the back. I crawled towards it, we may need it. Tbor glanced over his shoulder, “don’t even think about it.”

I ignored his command and rested in my lap, “we’re really going to argue this right now?” I spoke over the roar of the engine. He clamped his mouth shut.

They were gaining on us, I’m not sure why, “are you full-throttle?!”

“We got the shitty boat,” he mentioned, I could just imagine his gum recession from how often he grinds his teeth.
