CADOC: Welcome to the 2nd episode of Nature Speaks. Today we're with an important member of the agricultural world. Let's hear it for Mr. Guava tree. (applause)
GUAVA: Thanks for having me on the show.
CADOC: Thanks for coming. You had time to come even though you had an operation with the farmers.
GUAVA: Yeah, I had to be pruned before August.
CADOC: Alright...now what's your story?
GUAVA: When I was planted in July 3, 2017, it was a really tough time since the sun didn't shine all the time. And there was quite a completion for it. So I and another plant was on the same field.
He had spent some time there before me so he was taller and his leaves shadowed me from the sun. And we all needed sunlight too.
I asked him to grow his branches to another direction, other complex things...
CADOC:...so you could have some of the sun.
GUAVA: Exactly and other benefits. But he gave excuses...like his xylem system isn't working and his chlorophyll is too low. I thought if I pressured him a little he would barge. But it wasn't working. And I had little time because the harvest was coming. And I can't move the sun right? So here's what I did. I used the resources in me to grow myself towards the sun and from under that plant's shading.
CADOC: You mean you took the initiative.
GUAVA: Yes...then I stopped complaining since I had enough light. Now let me tell you what happened to the other plant I talked about.
CADOC: We're listening.
GUAVA: He had a thing...like a disease after some days.
CADOC: Really?
GUAVA: Yes. But I wasn't happy anymore after he told me something. He said if he had done all the things I asked him to do some factors...you humans may not understand.
CADOC: Oh don't worry.
GUAVA: He said I would have had the same disease if he had done all I asked. He didn't want to tell me because it's quite embarrassing to have that disease. Then I was like "Woah that's why" I realized I didn't fully understand the situation. And I looked at what appeared to my eyes as he neglecting me. Not the thing under the surface.
CADOC: So...can our viewers have a summary?
GUAVA: Sure,sure. 1st,do something about a situation you can do something about. 2nd understand the situation fully before making a decision.
