June 1941, Ethan Cross, a great marksman of the American infantry, was about to enter Germany with his company. They had covered long distances while walking behind Sherman tanks. When Ravensberg was 10 miles away, they found themselves in a forest. Ethan sat resting under a tree, wondering what he might see in Ravensberg. It was a dark night, and a monotonous silence surrounded the area, but there was something mysterious in that silence. He took the safety off his rifle and scanned the area nearby. As he walked through the woods, the trees looked eerie in the darkness, and in the distance, the sound of bombing could be heard. Though he wasn’t alone, John Flint, armed with a submachine gun, was accompanying him.
After wandering for an hour, they thought the jungle was safe, but fate had different plans that night. Suddenly, someone coughed from the bushes, and they became alert. Behind the bushes, two German SS soldiers, both heavily armed, were waiting. As soon as the soldiers realized they had been exposed, they opened fire. Tracer rounds lit up the entire jungle. Ethan Cross and John Flint took cover and assumed their positions. Through the smoke, Ethan aimed at the muzzle flash of the machine gun and fired.
