BACK HOME
The doorbell rang , she ran out of the kitchen with oily hands and gaped open the door , her pupils dialated . Maternal tears could not be held by the conjunctiva anymore , it rolled down her wrinkly cheeks when she grabbed her son into her arms .

Boys do cry was proved that day . The five long years had been quite tough for the mumma's boy !!
A degree preceded his name . But the genuine glow touched his countenance when he was in his mum's arms.

The whistling cooker , the retro songs playing on the radio thrilled him !!

The prompt call -"Shrey" by his mother left him procrastinating , he felt how much he missed his mum!
Those steel plates on the mahogany vintage dining table made his eyes sparkly and watery .

The heap of smoky white rice on his plate waited for him . The aroma of the sizzling oily yellow daal was an anile essence that he really craved !! The spoon of melted desi ghee - made the meal proper to be called as " ghar ka khana" .

The first bite as always , was fed by his mum !! At this sympathetic motherly feelings orbed his mom , tears rolled down over again ...

The nice noon gave way to the excellent eventide , the four walled structure - lacking his presence, turned home again - post five years !! The 'even aarti' wiped out all the negativity and the sandalwood fragrance of the incense sticks gave an olfactory solace to him !!
Every second , he sensed what he yearned for years at the harsh hostel.

At the strike of the hour hand at six , the homemade special masala tea specially known as - " masala cutting chai" was ready with salty biscuits - took him down the memory lane and raised the corner of his lips!

His busy mum, took a day off from her chores and oiled his messy , rough hair with homespun hair mask .
Every touch of his mother's fantastic fingers on his scalp , soothed him and relieved him off all the stress he had accumulated over the calenders !!

The dinner preparation reminded him of his boyhood days when he used to follow his mum to the kitchen- narrating every petty details of the game !! This thought ended with a sigh - where his lips parted to say -" someone said it true , don't grow up it's a trap! " ...
The soft , warm , and fluffy 'chappatis' with the world famous potato curry -" aloo ki sbzi " !! Topped the homely essence , The indianized homemade mango pickle - mystified the molars and twisted the tongue with it's savoury tartness !!

The tall steel glass of ' haldi dudh' - was the last but the best nourishment of the day .

The cottony cushions, pushy pillows were outdated , his mother's lap ranked the first !! The whole blackness of night was spent with his head on his mum's lap . That night he completed his sleep which had been left incomplete for past five years !!
He was back home indeed ...
