The lost earring
This is dedicated to all the females who have lost atleast one earring/stud (from a pair) in their life. I can feel your pain, the pain of ruining a beautiful pair, the pain of losing a gift or a hard earned gift to oneself. Even the most simple women, atleast wear ear jewellery, and that's one addiction I have. I have a vast collection of ear jewellery in form of studs, loops, danglers, resin, feather, flowers, handcrafted art and I absolutely adore it. I keep them sorted in different compartments and wear them as per the demand of the occasion. AND I HAVE NEVER LOST A PAIR OR A PART OF MY COLLECTION. Yup! I mean it, I have had accidents where sometimes it broke and was irreparable, so i had to let it go, but I never lost any. And while writing this, I am scared that now I would be jinxed and I would definitely lose a pair. Ha ha!

Anyways, coming back to the topic, the ear jewellery is particularly small in size and is most often found in pockets of blazers, pants, jackets, old handbags or in the corners of bedside drawers. Each piece has a story of its own, some are as old as we are, some gifted by parents and grandparents, lovers, friends and some are even dream designs, designed through expert craftsmen through our eyes. Most are not expensive, often bought from local markets, exhibitions and small scale sellers out of sheer joy. Its a part of your memory house. When you wear one, you become the story.

So, what happened that one of my friends, lost her diamond stud(worth thousands) while dancing on her favourite song 'Kajrare kajrare' and the entire night, we looked for it under the bed, almirahs, flower pots, curtains, bedsheets but in vain. It seemed as if it had grown legs and ran into a darkest pit beyond our reach. My friend cried buckets and clasped the other one tightly in her hand. She was extremely scared that her husband would kill her for this stupid wit loss. We consoled her and advised her not to wear such expensive jewellery during traveling and also told her to turn it into a locket.

Its been many years since this episode but sometimes I Imagine the spark in eyes of the person who would have found that shining stud in the darkest corner of that room after years of hanging around. Another story made by an lost earring 😌.
