The Ventriloquist Act 12
When the weekend passed, Monday started. Jasmine walked into Mr. Hanks classroom with her head down. She was really nervous and embarrassed for bringing him to there house. All Jasmine wanted was for Mr. Hanks to help her and her mom fight off that dummy, but her mother did not listen. When she sat down she looked at Mr. Hanks, and he looked back her while taking some sheets of paper from his desk and passed it around. When he got to Jasmine, and handed her a sheet of paper, he gave her a concerned expression. Jasmine's head went down feeling ashamed.
"Okay class, today is a pop quiz, and..."
The class sighed."Uhhhhhhhhhhh."
"I know I been down that road before, but you guys gotta get used to surprise quizzes because many teachers these days are doing it. We do not inform you guys beforehand anymore on a quiz because when we tell you all to study something, we know that you all should already know half of the things we teaches you from the chapters we tell you to read from and lectures too. That's why it is always good and helpful to take as many notes as possible. Okay, your quiz starts now, and when you're finished please get up and hand it in to me," Mr. Hanks instructed.
When Jasmine was done with her quiz, she got up and handed it to Mr. Hanks and sat back down, and he started grading some papers.
When class was dismissed, everyone got up and left, and Mr. Hanks called out Jasmine's name.
"Jasmine, may I have a word with you?"
She walked over to his to his desk.
"Jasmine, I'm terribly sorry about yesterday I couldn't help you and..."
"Don't worry about it Mr. Hanks. My momma is hard to convince. She don't understand," she said.
"I know that's her house and her rules, and I know I'm not allowed to go back," he said.
"Yeah I know. But I still want you to help me still," she said.
"I don't know how to Jasmine, I'm not allowed there."
"Maybe you can sneak in my house after dark."
"Hahaha, Jasmine do you know how that sounds?"
"Sounds like a good idea to me."
"No, that's not what I mean. I can not do that because that's inappropriate and not very wise for a teacher to do. I can get into trouble, and just say I get caught by your mother. That can ruin my reputation. I can get fired Jasmine. That wouldn't look good."
"No, you can just tell them the truth."
"Jasmine, we are living in a society of biased and judgemental individuals that would get the wrong impression about us."
"Aww I got it."
"Yeah so I'm sorry Jasmine I couldn't be any help."
"That's cool," she said, walking off and looking disappointed, and helpless. "That doll still haunts me at night."
"But. I can tell you what I can do," he said.
Jasmine turned back around, and ambled to his desk. "What?"
"Well the only idea I can say is... I can guide you through on what you should do to get rid of that dummy."
"Thank God. Okay how?" She asked.
"Well I can send you an email tonight on what to do. What's your email address?"
She watched Mr. Hanks writes down her email address.
"Great."
"Do you have a cell number I can reach you just in case if I get confused?" She asked.
Mr. Hanks just stared at Jasmine with a blank expression for a minute. "If I give you my landline number, you can not tell no one, keep this between me and you because I don't want nothing to happen to you or your mother. I'm giving you my number for a reason."
"Thank you so much Mr. Hanks, I promise no one won't find out."
"Great to hear. I will shoot you a guide instruction on what to follow. It's going to be the instructions I searched last week on how to cast out the spirit in the dummy."
"Thanks Mr. Hanks," she said, leaving the classroom.
"Don't mention it."
