Initially, the illnesses were tolerated, even though they were of an unusual kind, but when people started to give up the ghost in a mysterious and painful manner, many started to take notice – notably and medical whiz-kids at institutions such as WHO and CDC.
The death count started increasing at an alarming rate, and before long, the visitor was breaking long-standing records of mass murder and immune system breakdown/compromise.
Suddenly, lethal diseases whose backs had been broken by miracle medical interventions started making astonishing comebacks, feasting merrily and mercilessly upon hapless victims.
People young and old; of all races, colours, nationalities, gender, and social status started protesting. It was now clearly evident that our visitor had over-extended his stay and welcome. His presence was no longer wanted.
But to everyone’s surprise, the offending visitor refused to barge, not even an inch. He made it quite clear that he was in no hurry to move elsewhere – at least not in the foreseeable future.
As if to add insult to injury, the visitor started making house calls far and wide. No one was safe anymore. For many it was not a question of ‘if’ but rather ‘when’ would he drop in for a death-ushering co-habitation.
One disturbing trend was the fact that he was getting the cooperation of some malicious Earth citizens who secretly ushered him into unsuspecting households.... (TO BE CONTINUED)
