In a small but wide village there lived a man who lived with his family of a wife and a boy, the boy was known to be the strongest of all youths in the community.
They were quite religious and God fearing that no one could actually hurt them or touch them with evil intensions, they all feared God and obeyed him.
The son named Gabriel had been given a title to be respected by other villagers in the Town.
Gabriel was a hunter, he hunts far greater and bigger hunts than his peers and due to that he was called the "Lion" of the Town.
There was also a girl in the village called Isabella known as the "Village Belle". All the young men in the Town had their eyes on her,(belle for most beautiful).
Isabella always praised God for her beauty and asked for the best man to be her husband.
Gabriel grew daily with pride and ungratefulness,he felt that because he has earned the greatest title he could be his own god, but little did he know his downfall was at his reach!

The hunting season was near,
and he was selected to be part of the qualified or best hunters to partake in the test/quest.
The terms were simple,
He whosoever brings or kills the village hunt was fit as a suitor for the "Belle of the village".

The candidates;
"The Lion of the Town- Gabriel",
Philemon,
Samuel (another faithful servant of God who didn't get carried away by pride unlike Gabriel),
and Thomas,a brave warrior .

It was finally time for them to go on their quest which was taking place in the forbidden forest(😂😂 it's not really forbidden,every village has an exaggerating name for a forest yunno)
Animals found in that forest are antelopes, pumas, jaguars and of course bushrat(always handy for meat in a quick pot of soup in the village yunno).
Gabriel had his eyes targeted for the greatest hunt "a puma".. because he had always been successful in his hunts for jaguars but never as successful in hunting a puma.
Philemon was not really great at hunting but he also wanted to shoot his shot for a puma.
Samuel, God-fearing and loyal he wanted to hunt what ever animal God told him to hunt.
while Thomas took a shot at the antelope.

Meanwhile,back at the Town square where the villagers gatherer awaiting their return, they were relieved when they saw Thomas returning with his catch,the antelope.
Minutes later Philemon came in with a jaguar,he wasn't successful at the puma.
few seconds later,
Samuel showed up with a puma!
the world village gasped in great surprise, something which even the Lion of the village hasn't been successful in hunting it before on various occasions and surprisingly he did in just a try,
"how remarkable"
the village head applauded.

Time was running fast,
the crown began to murmur,
"where is our lion?!"
they cried!
footsteps were heard,
they all looked back and found a wounded Gabriel staggering towards the square with a lessly wounded bushrat.
"Bushrat?!"
the crown murmured in confusion.
how on Earth is it possible that the great and mighty Lion of the village hunted a Rat?

"what happened?"
the village head asked
"I was I was ch-ased and beat up by my hunt, I thought my my arrow had killed it but it got up and at-ta-cked me and all I could hunt with my wou-nded body was this rat.."
Gabriel managed to murmur.
the crowd gasped!
"then how on Earth was Samuel able to hunt it"
the village head referred the question to Samuel.
"with the help of God,
I prayed first, I told God to hunt for me and soon I saw a leaping wounded puma and I took two shots and ..."
Samuel explained
the crowd praised God and Samuel for he had the greatest hunt.

And so, Isabella took Samuel as her husband as the man chosen for her by God.
Everyone learnt their lessons including Gabriel.

"Do not feel proud of yourself just because of the much success you've aquired remember it wasn't all you 99% of your success and where you are right now is all God, don't forget that!- ©JoRianNa
