CHAPTER THREE



The meeting ended with the conclusion that Mrs Maria won't sell her blue diamond to anyone. Out of anger, Diane made her way to the bar to drink her sorrow away. She ignored the calls of her assistant who wanted to inform her of Mr Adams wanting to see her. Mr Adams is ready to pay any amount of dollars to get his hands on that Diamond, since Mrs Maria is not interested in selling to anyone. But he reached out to Diane when he heard Mrs Maria being the mother to Diane, this will be much easier he thought.



…."What? You're not selling? Who the hell are you to turn me down?"

Diane said to herself drunkenly. She had had six bottles of beer already and was still going strong for the night. Her mood got interrupted when her hot neighbor Desmond joined her company.


…. "Fancy to meet you here. I don't know if you can drink this much, But you exceeded my expectations."

Desmond said jokingly while clapping his hands. He finds Diane cute while being drunk. He has never dreamt of seeing her closer before, but seeing her messed up face, he still finds it funny.


…. "Hey! What are you doing here? I thought I told you that I don't ever want to see you here again?"

Diane shouted out loud, drawing the attention of everyone at the bar.



…."Ha! Will you please keep it low, you're embarrassing me in front of everyone!"

Desmond calmly said.



….. "What? Embarrassed? I should be the one embarrassed seeing me with you , not the other way round?".

Diane said drunkenly



….. "Why are you even here? I never thought you're the type to be seen around here?".



…."The reason why I am here is because I'm sad. Someone very rude, disrespected me today. Ha.. I'm very pissed! How dare she? How could she? I mean what is so important in owning a blue Diamond? Why is she not selling?"

Diane shouted, drawing the attention of everyone once again.


…."You need to talk low, if you don't want thieves to follow us back home. Whether it's blue diamond or green Diamond. Can you please shut up?

Desmond said.

He got afraid of people following them to their house. The thought of being robbed creeped his mind, it's only better if he takes Diane home as quickly as possible.



…. "Let's go home. Before you attract more crowds!".

Desmond said, urging her to stand up.


.. "I'm attractive, let people see me! Are you jealous that I'm getting all the attention?"



….. "I know that already. But it's better we leave quickly."


Desmond carried Diane on his back without Diane's consent, and both made their way home. The bar is near their apartment building, and it's only five minutes away.



…. "You know you are the annoying type, always picking on me. That's why I don't like you. Fishhead!".

Diane slapped him on the head making him drop her unannounced.


Diane screams in pain, she has fallen on her back and has injured her hand.


…."Oh my God! I'm sorry. It's because you couldn't keep quiet."

Desmond said teasingly. He laughed at the sight of what he had done and he is not ready to apologize to her yet.


... "Did you just drop me? How dare you?"

Diane jumped on his back and bit his left ear making him scream out loud. They gathered the attention of people who watched the two fight like siblings.

Daine refused to sleep in her own apartment but chose to disturb Desmond by invading his space. Her drunk state brings out all her characters, and this makes Desmond wonder if she is the same person.



…. "Who is this person that made you so mad today? Tell me so I can scold them?"

Desmond appeared concerned about her. He watched her sleep on his lap, and chose to enjoy the situation because the next day might come and Diane might have a change of attitude.



... "Someone very much like me made me mad. How dare she? After all these years? What? She is not selling that blue diamond? When am I the one buying it?"

Diane cried.


... "Why is that Diamond so important to you?"

Desmond wondered. He had no idea the job Diane does, but he knows that she is rich.


... "Stupid! I'm a jewelry maker. I make rings for your favorite celebrities and stars. Plus that Blue Diamond is one of a kind. Very rare, beautiful, and expensive…."

She paused while thinking about her past life. If only her mother was there for her, she wouldn't have lived with her abusive father who hit her every time giving her a scar that will never heal in her heart. Her mother could have been there to protect her, she could have been there when she needed her when she got her first period, she could have been there when other mothers showed up for their mothers. But her own mother was out there in the world chasing her dream. What changed now, Diane thought!


... "You know I'm just like that Blue Diamond. Very beautiful, elegant, rare, and also expensive. But you want to know what Blue Diamond lacks that makes them so rare?"




…. "What?"

Desmond asked curiously. This is the first time he is having a deep conversation with Diane.



... "It lacks Nitrogen!"



... "Nitrogen?"



…. Nitrogen is very important in plants and all living things. It's essential, it's like motherly love..very sweet..very lovely...very …. anyway, that's why it's color is blue. "

Diane sad before falling asleep on Desmond's lap.



Desmond takes some minutes to rethink the relationship he had with his mother. Diane's words touched his heart and moved him to call his mother whom he had abandoned for two years now.
