Hunger
Seated across the hall with a direct view to the room across. The room is still and quiet, the only noise heard is of the machines beeping in a continuous rythmic sound 'beep' 'beep'. Across the room by the window stands a young female and an elderly male, holding hands together as if praying, both dressed casually but wearing a worried face.

On the hospital bed lies a young man barely 20 years of age. From what is seen, he has a pretty face a baby face or maybe looks can be deceiving. His mouth hidden by the ventilator pipes and you can see his chest move up and down slowly. I am lost in the movement of his chest the same way he is lost in his own world of thoughts or are they dreams??
If only he could subconsciously speak and tell what he is dreaming of. A nurse enters the room and checks if everything is okay and calls the elderly man out of the room. By the looks of his face, the conversation is serious and can't help but wonder what they're talking about.
The young lady goes by the bedside and from her features it is the young man's sister. She holds his hands tightly, tears trickling down her smooth cheeks and landsin for a hug and lies on her brother just like Elisha hoping to perform a miracle on her brother.
The elderly man gets back to the room, helpless and frail. He falls down on his knees weeping loudly. With that reaction I know well the information he was told. He holds his daughter in a tight embrace and from the lip movement I can see them say ,it's time.
Thinking here to myself how could it be time?He is just so young, his whole life ahead of him. how could life be so cruel or time itself yet we all grow up knowing there's time in our hands, yet time itself is in the hands of God. If only He could hear their desperate prayers. I felt for them and could not control my emotions.
Two of the nurses arrived one in front of the other , then the doctor all from my view arrived according to official hierarchy. The silent room is now filled with noise from the crying which overpowers the sounds of the machine. With all that noise, my mind was filled with an indescribable silence and there I heard my name being called out to proceed to the doctor's office.
With that I left but what I left with is they were pretty hungry for a miracle, hungry for him to breathe on his own but it was beyond their capability but to God...

I wrote this a while back for creative non fiction but it did not meet the cut, trying to see if I can write stories. It potrays hunger and not only hunger for food we can have a hunger to achieve dreams, to achieve something, a miracle and more.
