It's a simple vegetable but it's what sustained my people for generations and it started as nothing but a blade of grass found while foraging for food by a people who couldn't go home again.

When I imagined it as a child I thought how sad and beautiful it's story is, why they came across such a sliver of land I can never know.

They came to a place untouched by humans and from a small plant they found a way to nurture and guide it's evolution to what we have today.
Through cultivation they're effort was never to tell it what color it should be only to be sweet and strong.

Now that work and taste is savored by our long lost cousins who we were separated from so long ago.
