A Dream Is Always Better Than Reality
#WritcoStoryPrompt2

A wet leaf fell on her shoulder making her jump in fear. Startled she shifted from her hiding place behind the bush, making each step sound softer like ants walking on the floor. She couldn’t stay here longer, they would find her soon. She knew they would find her and make her go back to reality. To the real world where she belongs. The real world where there are rules and laws made by the society to establish peace. How long has it been since they made these laws? Did anyone realize that maybe they are not working anymore? Did anyone pay attention to the misuse of these laws taking place on a daily basis? How those laws are twisted and placed on the ground to be used in an incorrect manner?

There are women who discriminate between their own daughters and sons at home. There are men who are being equally harassed and molested but no one cares to notice. There are girls who behave in a particular way to make the boy look bad in his acts. There are women who ask their son to not cry like a girl and be a man. And fathers who support this idea. There are males who want to dress up like females but are restricted to do so by family or society, as that would bring disrespect. There are men who want to stay home and take care of their kids rather than do an 8-5 job.

Then there are men who shout out at their wives and daughters to see fright and pain in their eyes. There are girls who are not allowed to speak, sit, dress, walk, or do anything in their own comfortable way. There is this society with its stereotypes of associating women with kitchen and girls with dolls. There are girls who should look pretty and smile no matter what they are going through. Women of the world should have perfect bodies while men having a little tan. That’s how they should always be recognized. Anything other than that is not acceptable.
