the long road to the museum
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The car swerved around the sharp mend giving a narrow miss to the on-coming bus.
You will never know just how Scared I was. Panting furiously With my heart in my mouth, I Saw the death that could have been.

I was sitted close to the driver of the bus,the only other adults in the vehicle along with the 12 young souls.
I was taking the children to the newly opened local museum, and if the sedan driver had not been able to just miss us( and by the skin of the teeth if Imight add!),we would be visiting the depository from the 'other side'.
The children, perhaps through an act of God,safely ensconced in their world of comics and cartoons were pretty oblivious of the near miss. Still they chattered on and on with reckless abandone.

Having long forgone religion for reason,I found God again in those brief seconds.
My life flashed before me,saying a litany of prayers to the one above and beyond.
And as if by the very hand of fate, the lone driver swerved past ,and we safely trugded on.
"whew!", I said aloud.
Afraid to infect the kids with our anxiety, the bus driver and looked at each other for a few seconds, and without words we said a lot.

Tonight,am pretty sure,he will be telling tales of his glimpse to the other side when he gets home.
As for me,I will be paying my tithe come next Sunday.
