To My Father's Land Of Lavish Green
Now to my father's land of lavish green
I scanned the horizon of your beauty
A fertile ground with Rich soil
Come let me tell you of my father's land

A starry night, I came
Resting in the shade of a palm tree
Close to the river of Udu
Where I can picture the coming of daddy.

Crackling flies warms my little hand
As dragon flies graciously entertains
The sound and the noises of engine swiftly silenced
By the orchestra of the moon sun rain

Children dancing around
Appeasing the rain with a song
Rain rain
Go away come again another
day
Little children wants to play

I feel my hand in the palm of old
Guilding me through the field of maize
Where magpies sings as the earth awakens
And a sailor calls out his journey price

Transported by a bicycle
Through the garden of bananas
Where splash of red tomatoes
Sway graciously in the gentle breeze

A pause to remember those who fell
Matyrs who now rest unaware
As the sky above echoes at once
From every corner, the call to prayer

In bustling cities of humble smiles
The song of street sellers serenades
A scent to savour, a tapestry of taste
Lies a range of fruit on the table

Back to the river of Udu I started from
The water hyacinth of reddish brown and yellow bloom
The crows of the cock welcoming the morning sun
Makes me feel my ancestors is calling me

Now tell me where I stand
If not on a fertile ground
Then take me to my father's land of lavish green
A land flowing with milk and honey

Let me Know what you sing
If it does not makes me stand erect
Then take me to my father's land of lavish green
Where I will arise as a compatriot

Now let me know the stories you tell
If not on our heroes past
Then take me to my father's land of lavish green
Civil war is a story to tell

Oh my father's land of lavish green
Even though I cross a thousand sea
Nigeria, the land of lavish green
A home to me you will be
