what made me who I am!
It was 1983, in a small town in South Mississippi; a child was born into the world. The young boy would grow up with no friends, placing his trust in the animals and insects that he would come across. They took up the role as the young boys friends. Although, the insects or animals couldn't speak, he still loved them all.
The young boy often played by himself but he never felt alone. He was content with it being just him and his critters because no matter what they were always there.
One day while playing with a beetle that he held close to his heart another boy, a little older found them playing together and asked to join in. The young boy, happy to have a chance to play with another child agreed and they played together for a while. While the older boy grew envious of the relationship between the young boy and the beetle, he had made a decision that would change the way the young boy looked at playing with other children for the rest of his life!
The older boy stomped the young boys beetle! One of his oldest friends. The young boy was devastated, sad and angry. That very day the boys heart had grown cold and his trust in others faded.
The young boy buried his friend and plotted his revenge. Although, the boy was older and much bigger the young boy wasn't going let it go that easy. He first told his father about everything that took place and asked for his advice on how to avenge his friend but the young boys father didn't understand how an insect could mean so much to the young boy.
Without help from his father, he stood against the older boy and was beaten badly, but just when the young boy thought it was over he saw the older boy fall to his knees.
A couple of teenage boys were walking by when they saw the older boy, beating the young boy and come to his rescue. The young boy told the teenage boys what happened, what the older boy had done to his friend. The teenage boys spoke in agreement and told the young boy that they would teach him how to fight, so that he could always protect the weak and all those he loved.
The young boy moved away, at the age of 10 and started a new life. Always to remember those teenage boys and what they taught him. He is a man now and still to this day, he stands tall as the protector of the weak!
