Emils Odyssey
Emil is 25, poor and depressed. One day Emil finishes his part time job and walks home crouching as if the weight of the world is on his shoulders. On his way Emil keeps murmuring that he wants to just close his eyes and die. Emil keeps repeating the phrase until he gets home. Emil lives alone as his family and friends have abandoned him for not being good enough. Not being a good enough son as he is incapable of taking care of his family. Emil is really empathic and is always there for a friend or a family member in crisis. But soon Emil realises what matters at the end of the day is money. Emil has always been a person who people get attracted to. Despite having all great qualities of a being a great friend Emil’s friendships don’t last. As Emil cannot afford to splurge money on exotic vacations or weekend drinking.
Emil has suffered his whole life with minor and major traumas. Growing up Emil knew he needs help. Unfortunately, Emil’s family never supported Emil to get help. You know therapy is expensive. As Emil became an adult everyone around Emil try to persuade Emil to visit a therapist. However, this infuriates Emil as he wanted to get help with dignity. After years of begging nobody cared now when he has given up people around him are pushing hard to get Emil to seek the necessary help. Haunted by his past Emil lies down on his bed and starts scrolling through his phone. To Emil’s horror everything on Emil’s phone is about mental health. Tips about getting motivated, mending relationships, anxiety cures, PTSD help. Terrified with the phone’s malfunctioning Emil switches the phone off. As Emil is starting to doze off he hears someone calling out to Emil. Immediately Emil wakes up and sees that his powered off phone is shouting Emil, Emil.
Frightened yet curious Emil cautiously says Hey! The phone now seems to have a mind of its own. Slowly the phone introduces itself as Ryuunosuke. Ryuunosuke could not only sleep but had a way to make sure Emil would listen. So Ryuunosuke asks Emil to lie down and just start talking. At first Emil is awkward as he realises he is talking to an inanimate object. But slowly Emil starts talking about his life. As the hours pass by Emil is now screaming on top of his voice venting. Emil is yelling at everyone who has wronged him, everyone who has hurt him in his entire life. Now Emil has calmed down and asks Ryuunosuke why he is suffering so much in his life. So Ryuunosuke magically brings a glass of water asking Emil to chug it down. As soon as Emil drinks the water he is dragged inside the phone.
In this new world Emil wakes up and looks around him. The first thing Emil sees is a larger version of his phone aka Ryuunosuke. As Emil’s vision gets clear he observes his surroundings and realises it isn’t anything he has seen in real life before. Emil realises it is a weird landscape, there is a house but not in a normal sense. The setting sun is not actually a sun but a twinkling orb. The trees look like they are made of glass. In this world Emil can see the air he is breathing and all the other gases that exist in various colours. As Ryuunosuke takes Emil on a walk Emil realises the houses look like trees back home. Now the people are in all forms and shapes some like Ryuunosuke which Emil recognises to be a phone. While the others are like jelly and obscure. Now Ryuunosuke says this was the first place Emil came into existence. Ryuunosuke promises to take Emil on a journey through all his past lives to understand why Emil is suffering so much in his current life. All Emil can do is laugh and then cry as Ryuunosuke takes Emil from one past life to the other. After numerous days of past life journey Emil is thrown back to earth to his current life. When he wakes up Emil looks for his phone Ryuunosuke but cannot find it. But what Emil has found is joy, peace, a spiritual awakening, the best of mental health and the motivation to go and live his life to the fullest.
