Hunger Is A Respecter Of Nobody
After my 4pm to 6pm lecture, I ran out of the lecture room immediately the lecturer stops (Don't blame me, It was already some minutes past 6 and I was tired and hungry).

It's unlike me to leave the class before a lecturer does (I always give this respect as taught by my secondary school FM teacher) but today was different as I've got to shut the grumblings in my tummy up.

I ran to a nearby tuck shop, bought one minimie chinchin and sachet water to hold my stomach before I reach my hostel.

I walked my way to the car park with each piece of chinchin following each steps I took, into my mouth.

On getting to the park, I boarded a cab still chewing my chinchin nonstop.

While struggling with the chinchin, one of it flew out of its comfort zone to rest on my lap.

Without thinking, I picked and threw it into my mouth.
As soon as I did this, the lady who sat next to me looked at me somehow disgustedly.

Even before I ate it, she had eyed me to see what I was going to do to the chinchin. But I didn't give it much of a thought before I ate it.

Even if I was conscious that moment, that it's unethical or unhealthy, I would still have eaten it (Don't think I'm dirty. I am not. It's just that I've been taught not to waste food).

Afterall, my cloth isn't dirty (Though there may be some unseen particles on it but my immune system is strong enough to deal with them).

Besides, the lose of one piece of the chinchin might make me sad, considering how hungry I was (Don't blame me, the economy is not helping).

The look she gave me brought to my remembrance, what my FM teacher once said: "It's only the uncultured that eat while walking down the street".

And any student he sees eating something on his way home, he beats the next day with words which is more painful than being caned.

Truth be told, there are some food especially fruits that can embarrass someone in public.

Have you seen how some people take orange and watermelon directly without cutting them into smaller sizes? Oh my God! You'll think they've been hungry for days.

Even apple, the way some people bite it just once, God! You'll think they're boring holes to fetch water from.

The thing is, even if you're a very stylish person and you take some of these fruits directly, people will look at you somehow. It may even change the way they view you.

Some may even see you as a hungry wolf especially if it's an hungry person who takes these fruits outside (God! Let me not explain).

Now, the question is: Is hunger a Respecter of the cultured?
And can the cultured culture himself when hunger seems to grip him like death?
