FROM KHAAKI TO COMBAT UNIFORM .The Journey To Becoming Soldier
It all began when I first stepped into the Military Training Centre. The sight of everyone in their combat uniforms sparked something deep inside me, a sense of excitement and determination to wear that same uniform. But before we could dive into training, there was a lot to be done. The first thing that came my way was the paperwork and lectures on discipline, with a strict instruction to get a zero haircut. It was all new and overwhelming, but I knew this was only the beginning.
The following day, we were taken to the battalion clothing store to receive our uniforms. I had imagined that I would be handed the iconic combat uniform right away, but to my surprise, I was given a simple khaki dress instead. The shine in my smile faded as I looked at the plain fabric in my hands. It wasn't what I had expected. When I asked one of the instructors, his answer struck me deeply: "The combat uniform and the rank are earned. You must complete your training properly and pass with first-class marks to wear that uniform. In the army, there is no second place. You either win, or you lose."
That statement stayed...
