Jack Hatter, illusionist, magician and murderer, stood with his wardens in the condemned cell waiting for his time to die. Facing a closed dividing door in the cell, he listened as the prison clock struck one in the morning.

As the chimes faded, Jack heard a new sound. It was the prison governor keys on the other side of the closed door opening up. Jack, took a deep breath, then looked through to see the gallows in the adjoining cell.
