One evening, as we were sifting through a pile of documents, Mon's phone rang. He answered, and his face turned pale.

"It's them," he said after hanging up. "They know we're onto them, and they're not happy."



I felt a chill run down my spine. "What did they say?"

"They want to meet. They say they have an offer for us, a way out if we stop digging."

I shook my head. "It's a trap, Mon. We can't trust them."

Mon looked at me, his resolve clear. "Then we'll set our own trap. We'll go, but on our terms."

The meeting was set in a secluded location, a derelict warehouse on the outskirts of the city. We arrived under the cover of darkness, the air tense with anticipation.


A figure emerged from the shadows, a man with cold eyes and a sinister smile. "Ms. Sy, Mr. Dalton, how nice of you to join us," he said, his voice dripping with malice.

The man's presence was unsettling, his smile never reaching the cold, calculating gaze that seemed to pierce through the darkness. Mon and I exchanged a glance, our silent communication perfected over countless trials and tribulations.
