Stranger
It was around 10.00.pm.The train bound to Lucknow had departed from Delhi.
The train has gained speed.Sanjna has laid the beddings on the lower berth of her coach Lucknow Mail and was about to sleep. She tried to sleep but was very anxious to reach her home swiftly so that she could share many news with her parents .Her final year examination of MBBS were over today and she was returning to her house.One hour has passed and the train was approaching Hapur Railway station.But to her utter surprise, the passenger on the middle berth was sitting in a squatting position.
He had not slept till now. Taking no note of her, She once again tried to sleep but couldn't succeed. Sanjna took out the magazine she had purchased from New Delhi railway station and started reading it.
Sleep was miles away from her. She was also noticing the passenger on the middle berth.Why was he not sleeping?
What was he doing there on his mobile phone. Surrounded by these questions, she was interrupted by a voice coming from her above berth.
Please, excuse me,have you got a mobile charger.My phone battery has come down to 7percent.Mine is a Samsung mobile phone. I need a charger urgently.The person on the middle berth asked in one breathe. Seemed he wanted the charger urgently.
Sanjna was speechless for a moment. She couldn't decide whether to give him or refuse him.
Unwillingly, she gave the charger to the Stranger and again started reading the magazine. Why was he not sleeping?what was he doing on his mobile phone?These were the few questions that surfaced in her mind. Thinking him as a stranger, she did not lay any stress on it.
Since he was a stranger, Sanjna was not interested in his acts,.
The train was approaching Moradabad.
By this time, Sanjna has become tired. She closed the book and slept on her lower berth.
Her mobile rang at 6.00am.It was a call from her mother.
Mother:-How are you, Sanjna?
Sanjna:-I am fine.
Mother, what's your expected arrival in Lucknow?
Sanjna:-Mom,the train shall arrive at 7.15a.m.
By this time, Sanjna have woke up.She went to toilet for washing her mouth. She was surprised to see that the stranger was still awake.
He might be in some problem,she thought.
but couldn't dare to ask him.
Please take your mobile charger and yes, thanks for the timely help, said the stranger to Sanjna.
No,it's okay. Sanjna told him.She knew from his eyes that this person had not slept for the whole night.
He might be having some trouble with him, She thought.
Since she was not at all interested in him she didn't ask anything.
Lucknow Station had arrived .
Stranger was also in a hurry.
He took his visiting card and gave it to
Sanjna. Sanjna took that card.
It read, "Rajesh Kumar, M.A.Phd..
The stranger was no more a stranger to her.
