Retrieve package, trouble ensues.
#WritcoStoryPrompt13
The instructions were clear: 'Go in, retrieve the package, don't look back.' That simple. He had done jobs like this before and had never had any trouble following instructions. But this time, something felt off. As he made his way through the dark and dingy warehouse, he couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching him.

In the centre of the room, on a table, he eventually came across the package, a small box. After picking it up, he turned to leave, but his curiosity overcame him. He couldn't help but look back quickly to see whether anyone was watching him.

A man in a black suit was standing in the shadows and giving him a cold, calculating glare when he first noticed him. Uncertain of what to do, he froze. Should he leave? Does he need to face the man?

Before he could make a decision, the man stepped out of the shadows and started walking towards him. The man was tall and imposing, and his face was hidden behind a black mask.

"Who are you?" the man asked in a deep, menacing voice.

The courier hesitated, not sure if he should answer.

"I asked you a question," the man said, his tone growing more threatening.

"I'm just a courier," the man stammered, holding the package tightly in his hand.

The courier felt the breath of the man with the mask on his face as he got closer.

The man added, "You shouldn't have looked back," then quickly lunged forward and grabbed the box from him.

The quick attack knocked the courier off balance, causing him to stagger backward. It was too late for him to correct his balance. With the bundle in tow, the man vanished into the night.

The messenger was startled and perplexed as he stood there for a while. He was aware that looking back had been a mistake, but he couldn't get rid of the impression that there was more going on. He made the decision to look into it more since he was interested in learning more about the man in the mask and the contents of the package he had just delivered.

He had no idea that he was about to become involved in a perilous game of cat and mouse in which a single mistake may determine life or death.
