Love, Divorce and Everything else
Chapter 32: Bring Emma home

It was finally the date for the case. Myra was nervous and worried, while Ryan was looking forward to it. Myra and Ryan had been staying together at his place since he proposed, even though Myra had not responded to the proposal yet. They were in love and wanted to spend time together. Ryan was worried that Myra was not safe at her parents' house, with Jack running around crazy, which could bring harm to her and her parents. To protect her and spend time with her, Myra decided to stay with Ryan for a few days. Ryan got ready for court, and Myra was waiting in the living room for him. He said, 'Let's go, my love, it's almost time.' She kissed him, wished him luck, and said, 'Yes, time to bring my Emma home.' They left the house, reached the court, and Ryan knew Myra was nervous. He held her hand tightly to support her while walking towards the court. Suddenly, they bumped into Margret and Jack. Ryan tried to ignore them and tried to walk away while holding Myra's hand.Suddenly, Margaret blocked their way and said, 'Well, well, well, look at this, Jack. If it isn't the leftover couple - one who ate our leftovers and one who is a leftover by you.' Jack responded, 'Yes, Mom, look how shamelessly he is holding her hand,' and then he turned towards Myra and said, 'Well, aren't you a cunning woman? I mean, you went after my cousin. We set you up, but you had to be that shameless to be sleeping with him. Are you that desperate?' Myra got upset but was not scared this time, and with Ryan by her side, she said, 'Who are you calling shameless? You sent your cousin to seduce your ex-wife. Wasn't that shameless? My daughter had been with strangers because of your greed, and you are talking about shame to me? How dare you even talk to me. And for your information, Ryan and I are in love - the kind of love and kindness people like you are incapable of. Jack got angry and said, "Oh, you dare talk to me like that? Have you forgotten your place, Myra? Once I am done with you, I swear, you will beg me for mercy, and I will show you your rightful place." Hearing this, Ryan got angry, pushed Jack, and shouted, "How dare you come close to her and threaten her? You have to go through me before you get to her. And when I am through with you, Jack and Margaret, you are the ones begging for mercy from us." Margaret suddenly pulled Jack away and said, "Now, now, son, don't worry. We should not create a scene here. They will get what they rightfully deserve. Let's just go inside the court and get the custody of that little brat first." Jack and Margaret walked away towards the court. Ryan said, "Are you okay, my love?" Myra: "Yes, yes, I am fine. It's Emma I am worried about." Ryan: "Do you trust me, my love?" Myra: "Yes, with all my heart." And she hugged Ryan. They then walked inside the court.

Once inside the court, Ryan helped Myra find a place to sit away from Jack and Margaret, and then the judge walked in. Ryan addressed the court and asked for Emma to be released back to Myra, as the grounds of the case by Child Protective Services were baseless. He shared how the case holds no water and how just based on a phone call with no verification and checks, the child was taken away, and called it an abduction. Just then, Anthony, the lawyer for Jack, interrupted and expressed how Myra was busy with men and how she is dating her current lawyer, Ryan. He shared photographs and stated that she is not a fit mother, as she is busy setting her life with her new guy and the child was neglected. The mother attempted suicide due to which she was hospitalized. He also pointed out that the father was not made aware of his daughter and that the grandmother, Margaret, and father Jack, under circumstances of neglect, are willing to take custody of Emma as they want to get to know her and spend time with the child, to which Ryan objected. He said he has been dating Myra for 11 months now. He mentioned that she is an excellent mother, and he presented signed letters from Emma's teacher, school, Myra's work colleagues, boss, and her neighbors. He then added that none of them mentioned any neglect, except for a random woman on a phone call who never came forward to record a statement. He shared a police report and medical records to show it was not a suicide attempt but an accident due to which Myra was hospitalized. He presented another document stating that the girl has inherited a significant amount of money, which intensified the custody battle, making the grandparents and father suddenly interested in the child. Anthony tried to object, but the judge ruled to listen to Ryan further. Ryan added that to prove his point, he wants to call Kathy Jack's 2nd ex-wife, who has 2 sons with Jack, would further help in confirming what I said. Kathy walked in, went to the witness stand, and Ryan asked her a few questions about her and her boys, her family background, and then asked about the marriage to Jack and the reason for the marriage to end. Kathy told the truth, telling how greedy Jack and his parents were, how they were after her father's money, and how they got rid of Myra. She told everything and apologized to Myra for being a part of it. Anthony objected and said that does not matter; he is lonely and wants to be with his daughter. What is wrong with that? To which Ryan interrupted and said, well, since the divorce, he didn't make any attempts to see his boys. If he is lonely, he could have done that. On top of that, he didn't want custody of the boys either. He mentioned he didn't want that responsibility. So, why this child? It's simple because there is money involved, which they want. With this, he said, we request the court to give Emma back to her mother as there is no proven case against Myra, the father has been completely blocked from having any rights now or in the future towards the child, and the judge has ruled in Myra's favor. The judge also ordered strict action against child protective services for taking unnecessary forceful action without proven grounds. Emma is to be released immediately to her mother, with compensation for any damages claimed. Jack and Margaret expressed their upset and disagreement with the judgment, while Ryan walked towards Myra, who was in tears but very happy. He hugged her. Myra expressed her gratitude, saying 'Thank you, my love. Thank you for bringing my baby home. I love you so much.' They walked out of the court to get the necessary documents to bring Emma back home.
