Children's Stories #001 Diamond
Once upon a time there was a piece of graphite that lived in the depths of the earth. Her name is Kuro. One day a special guest was invited to her school. The special guest was a diamond named Vir. He was strong and attractive.

“You know I was a graphite like all of you here.” said Vir.

Everyone was surprised to hear that.

“How can a dark, fat and uneven graphite like me become a strong, sparkling and attractive diamond?” thought Kuro and a lot of others.

“I know what you are thinking. I was a graphite when I was born. I spent a lot of time in the depths of the earth working at high temperatures withstanding crushing pressures. As time passed the atoms in my body rearranged themselves to make me hard and strong. Now I am a diamond.” said Vir.

Kuro was fascinated by this story.

“I want to become a diamond too.” Kuro blurted out loudly.

Everyone around her laughed. Kuro was embarrassed but she did not give up.

“Mother, Father I want to become a diamond. Please help me.” Kuro requested her parents.

They helped her with all the resources they had. Everyday Kuro walked through flames and bore crushing weights on her shoulders. Some other graphites who knew nothing better mocked her and laughed at her.

When the time arrived Kuro travelled to the depths of the earth alone. The path was dark but flaming hot. Strong forces crushed her body. There were times when she couldn’t take it anymore. She missed her parents. She cried a lot but kept going as much as she could every day. Years passed. She forgot how long she had been inside. She gained some strength. She knew she could face anything. The atoms in her body arranged themselves neatly and tightly after facing all the heat and oppression. She could feel the change that happened in her. Kuro had become a diamond. Kuro started her journey back home.

Kuro’s parents were rejoiced to see her. Everyone bombarded her with questions about the middle earth and she answered them politely.

As you know some people still couldn’t accept her achievements. “She was lucky.”, “I could have done that”, “So what?’ were commonly spoken around her. Kuro did not care because ‘a diamond is a diamond and a diamond is forever.’
