Outside The Window
I heard the pitter patter of the raindrops while I was working with head down on my work desk. I lifted my head to look outside the window. I saw the rain pouring heavily and my heart sank staring at the gloomy weather outside.
I exclaimed ,"Oh No! Rain Again! It's been raining for days now. O Rain, take a break!" I began to feel caged in my small appartment. I was longing to step out to inhale the fresh air and feel its coolness on my skin. I was missing my sunsets and sunrises. But, looks like the weather had its own plans!

As I watched the big raindrops falling on the ground, my mind began to wander. I travelled down the memory lane of the times I spent outside, exploring and enjoying with my friends. I began to miss my carefree life of my childhood when even a little drizzling couldn't stop me from staying at home. And now, here I am stuck inside, consumed by work and responsibilities. This rain was a bitter reminder of my hectic life.
I was deep in my thoughts, when a sudden flash of lightening followed by a loud sound of thunder brought me back to reality. I jumped in my seat, startled with this sudden burst of noise. Being all alone, with only the raging storm as company, fear gripped me. I kept looking outside the window, when I noticed that the drops were no longer falling in a straight line but were dancing and twirling in the wind. The trees were swaying along with the raindrops and the dark clouds were slowly moving away.

Looking at such wonderful moments of nature, I suddenly felt calm and peace within me. I realised that the storm was not a hindrance but was a beautiful and celestial display of nature's power. Those trees, what strength they had! They were still standing tall with pride , unaffected by the storm. With a newfound sense of determination, I grabbed my umbrella and stepped out. Rain had slowed down to drizzling and sun finally peeked out. I took a long deep breath and let the fresh air fill my starved lungs. I walked through the wet streets and jumped in the puddles not caring for the muddy water, making me feel like a child again. I saw some neighbours who had stepped out too to enjoy the post-storm calm.

I returned home fully soaked and covered in mud but with a smile on my face. The rain had brought a new perspective in my life and a reminder to appreciate the little things in life. From then on, whenever it rained, I looked outside the window with excitement, knowing that even amidst the storm, beauty can be found.
