For Her (2 of 4)
FOR HER

You walked to my direction
Although it was obvious, I had to mention
The music covered every human sound
Yet I bet mine was louder and echoes in every bound
Your steps were slow so I had to wait
But two years of looking isn’t worth the wait
So I took the chance for it was rare
Walking almost gliding everywhere

Till I saw you were mere steps away
You closed your eyes and I had to delay
Eight more steps and I’d have been happy
But these steps were now getting heavy
The music much slower
And time has moved laggardly

I thought of everything that may happen from now
Whether we’d be happy or end up broken somehow
Would I be a nuisance or an inspiration?
A best friend or a lover in question
Seven steps more and the weight gets heavier
Six steps left would we always love one another?
I shake the uncertainty in my mind
And took more steps making sure nothing is left behind

But then I remembered that day
The one where you were crying
And I was merely looking from far away
Worrying but not doing anything to lighten your dismay
What if after these steps I’d remain that cold?
A selfish bastard, ignorant and never bold
Scared of rejection or love lost in sight
So I turn my direction three steps to the right
Where a lady in black flashes a smile
I smiled back a bitter smile as it may seem
For I am a mere servant who has lost his queen.
