Ugly.. accept it, don't fight it
I was going through some dresses on an online shopping app. a red knee length dress caught my eyes and I started scrolling it, the lean and fair model carried that dress pretty well!
in my mind, there were many thoughts, will it look good on me? I am going to be 40 years old, with wheatish skin tone and slightly over weight According to the stats given in weight and height chart. but being a mother of a 10years old daughter overcomes all this. she is pretty and beautiful with fair skin, just like her dad. I am thankful that she did not inherit her looks from me!
I was engrossed in that dress, not realising that my daughter had come and was looking at the phone screen.
she kept her hand on my shoulder and looking casually at that dress said "mom, this dress won't look good on you, because your skin is dark and oily and you are fat too, look for some other dress"
the casual remark turned my world upside down. I quietly went inside the washroom to wipe out the years so that no one could see them rolling down.
that was just the begining. days passed by and I didn't forget those words.
I was used to these remarks in college days, when the person whom I loved used to casually make fun of looks infront of every one. I used to get hurt but I ignored it every time and finally got married to him.
I knew that I was a average looking lady, slightly over weight with a wheatish skin tone. so I never resisted those remarks.
I saw many mom and daughter wearing similiar dresses or t shirts.
I too wanted me and my daughter to try this. I choses a pink t shirt for her and asked her that if I could buy a bigger size for myself. she was reluctant and said that she is okay with me buying that t shirt but she would go with other colours and designs and would not wear the same kind as she doesn't look like me!
these things never stopped and I never objected. I always thought that what's wrong if you call an ugly person "ugly".
it's better to listen these words at home because they keep you grounded.
you won't get hurt if someone says this to you outside....
