A SPACE FOR THOUGHTS
I woke up to the shrieks and giggles of the kids. I looked at my timepiece, “Oh crap!” I exclaimed aloud. Katy and Collin were having a pillow fight. Jeremy was reading a book humming. And Melissa was busy checking herself in a tiny mirror hanging on the wall. “Good morning. Had a beauty sleep, sis?” Melissa said in a tone as sweet as sugar. “Unfortunately no. I didn’t have a good night’s rest.”
All the kids turned to look at me. Melissa slipped her hands in her pockets, “Well, who was that guy you were apologizing to at 2 am in the morning.” I shrugged my head, “Long story short, I failed to turn up at Macy’s party at night. I had promised my friends, Jason and Audrey that I would be there no matter what.”
