Act 1, scene 3.
The curtain rises as Kelvin and his friends walk towards the school field, their footsteps echoing in the empty hallway. It is the closing hour of the school day, and the sun is slowly setting in the sky. Kelvin is chatting with his friends, his mind filled with thoughts of the upcoming training session.
Suddenly, Kelvin stops in his tracks as he sees his father, Mr. Rogers, waiting for him at the entrance of the school. This is unusual, as Mr. Rogers usually sends the company driver to pick Kelvin up or communicates through the school administration. Kelvin's heart pounds in his chest as he approaches his father, a sense of foreboding washing over him.
As Kelvin reaches his father, Mr. Rogers envelops him in a tight embrace, his face grave and sorrowful. In a hushed voice, he breaks the news to Kelvin - his mother has passed away in a tragic car accident.
