Forever In Denial
#WritcoStoryPrompt74
You are falling in love with your friend. What should you do? Write a story...

Love?
Nope. Nuh-uh.
Nah. Pfft.
No way. That would be ridiculous.
Absolutely ridiculous. Definitely.
Like, whaaat?
...
Oh no.

I stiffened in my seat, my mind oblivious to Mr Finn's voice as he droned on about chemical compounds and shit.

"Hey, you okay?" He tapped my neck with the end of his pencil, leaning forward in his chair.

"Okay? Yeah. Why wouldn't I be? I've been A-OK since I was born. OK all the time. Not a single other letter. Just okay. Hehehe, I must sound so weird. Avert your ears. " I buried my face in my textbook.

He chuckled and grabbed my chair, pulling it back for it to stand on its back legs, and for my ears to get close enough to hear him whisper. "I will torture the truth out of you, Zara."

"There's no lie. I'm perfectly ok. Go brush your teeth. "

"Brushed them this morning, " he said absentmindedly. His eyes wandered off to the girl across the room. The only one that could grasp his attention in a crowd of millions.

I looked at her critically, finding nothing outstanding, except for her auburn curls which emphasized on her rounded chin, small nose and big adorable eyes.

I immediately regretted looking.
She was adorable. I could see why he liked her.

But then, what do I do with these annoying feelings that come up all of a sudden?

We all know how the stories go. At some point, the girl blurts out her feelings and it turns out the boy likes her back and they get together.

Bullshit.

This is reality people. And reality cuts deep when you let it.
So I'm not gonna.
Feelings are irrelevant, they'll fade away quickly enough. ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

In the meantime, I could use a snack to cope with this teenage trauma. Hehehe...

I snuck a potato chip into my mouth, refusing to give him any.
