memories.
It's evening time and I'm at my church's annual convention. What do I do for fun; how do I pass the time? I listen to music, I play games on my phone or I watch a movie I just downloaded; catch up on a series I just started following.
When I was younger, during conventions, my method of passing the time was to have fun. I licked sweets and pretended their wrappers were currency. I would be the seller – on some occasions the buyer – and I sold sweets and more often than not sweet wrappers. Technically, I trading money for money 😅.
Or we (I, my siblings and children of family friends) would fold out cardigans and sweaters (it could get really cold!) to make babies or bread. As babies, we would care for them. As Brad we would sell them. So I guess it was bread, sweets and money we sold.
This is not about technology and whether or not it ruined our lives. This is about memories, about friendships, about how the silliest things were everything for us then and how now we think too deep and read too much into everything.
Like a social media page, the past is meant to be looked Through. Don't look at the past, certainly don't look into it and definitely don't turn to the past. Look through it with gladness and fondness.
We grow older and remember all the good times and we wish we were there again. But we aren't called to age to look back but to look forward. It is a journey; so look through your past with the reassurance that you have had a life worth living and good stories to tell.
